first response 1 positive test 1 negative test, confused!

Hi, I did two tests on the same day. The first I did around lunch time and the second about 4 hours later. The first one came up positive and the second negative( there was not even a faint positive but on the first test the positive line is very clear). So now i don't know what to think. Has anyone else had this problem?

Hi, I did have a similar experience in both pregnancies, my understanding of it is that the hormone that the test detects is at it's strongest in the morning, which is also when your wee is at it's most concentrated so this is the best time to test especially if it is early days. I would be hopeful if the first test was positive as, again it is only my understanding of things but I thought the hormone was only present when pregnant which is why you don't get false positive results.

Hi again, i did another clear blue test today which was negative. So maybe tge first response test was wrong either that or its to early to detect. Maybe wait a week and if no period test again. I was really hoping for a positive

Hi, sorry your latest test was negative, would certainly wait a while before testing again, esp if testing early. When I was trying for DD (2nd baby) I did loads of tests and from my experience testing early leads to much upset as I was getting faintly positive results for a day or two at the most and then negative results as I think the egg was probably not implanting. On a brighter note though after a few more months of trying and then testing when I was about due on I got the rewarding double blue line - so strong I didn't have to hold the test up to the light and squint at it or keep showing my husband many sticks of wee and asking if he could see a line!!!

sorry to hear about your bfn, just wanted to share my own expierience of clear blue with you. I tested about 9dpo fmu using a asda cheapie and got a bfp, all excited I ran out and got myself a clear blue 2 pack and tested again that evening, it was a bfn . I used the other clearblue the next morning with fmu and got another bfn, with the same sample I used my last asda cheapie and got a bfp . I am now 21 weeks pregnant with twins Fingers crossed it is a positive outcome for you too xxx

Lizzie I 2nd everything Piper said had exactly the same thing! clearblue not as good as some of the others out there! Tescos still doing 4 tests for £9! Good luck hpe you get your bfp!

Oh God!! I have to go and get some more tests after reading this thread. Have done 2 x Clearblue tests (from different packs). Both were negative. I am now 12 days late & feel like I could be pg. We are actively TTC, so hopefully it will be good news!

I've always used cheapie tests at later times of the day, never had a negative one when I have been pg.

After a positive test I have never re tested so would not know if I would have had a negative one afterwards iyswim. I would assume that you are pg since you have had a positive test.

I know this is a super one thread but I just wanted to add I’m currently having the same experience piper84 one positive with a Asda cheapie and fmu then the same day negative with Clearblue digital and weeks indicator then negative with same clear blue the next morning.. am I crazy?

@bethcrew I know that the Asda digitals were in the news recently because they were giving false positives (Asda refusing to recall though!) so just be wary with their brand at the moment.

Clearblue isn't that sensitive, you'd be better off with a FRER if your period isn't late.

If you are late, then I would expect to see an accurate result on any brand by now, so give it a few days and test again in case you ovulated late.
