... but ask I must.

No alcohol beer: is that really no alcohol, or absolutely minimal amounts? As in... could I in theory drink a few bottles of it?

I am not confused with the low alcohol stuff, I am thinking of Becks no alcohol which is 0.05% I think.

My head says I can, my 23 week pregnant heart says hmmm not sure...

A 'few bottles' is not 'minimal amounts' though, is it?

I've had one alcoholic drink once or twice in pregnancy, but I wouldn't do it regularly or have more than one glass a time.

littlelamb · 12/06/2009 16:00

It's non alcoholic. It will be fine You'd get a bigger hit from swallowing your mouthwash frankly

hf128219 · 12/06/2009 16:00

Exactly Littlelamb!

PortBlacksandResident · 12/06/2009 16:00

I had three bottles of Kaliber at a wedding once when i was pregnant.

I think what the OP is asking is is it the same as drinking orange juice ie not alcoholic. At 0.05% you would need to drink a fair few bottles to have drunk the equivilent of a "normal" strength bottle of larger.

TheDevilWearsYFronts · 12/06/2009 16:01

My mum is on hardcore antibiotics and painkillers and her doctor said 'fake' becks is fine.

curlywurlycremeegg · 12/06/2009 16:02

Too slow posting,

TheDevilWearsYFronts · 12/06/2009 16:02

But why would one want to drink lager without the effects?

hehe

heylottie · 12/06/2009 16:03

Cool, thanks. I like the taste of rubbish non- alco beer!I have simple tastes, easily met! And a non alcoholic beer with lemonade doesn't make a bad shandy...

About 94 of the bottles!

Botbot · 12/06/2009 16:04

I got slightly addicted to Becks no-alcohol lager when I was pregnant. It doesn't taste anything like lager, but it had a loveliness all of its own that just hit the spot while sitting in front of the telly on a Friday night. Am not normally a lager drinker when not pregnant, either.

muffle · 12/06/2009 16:05

0.05% means one 20th of 1 percent - that is, 1 part in 2,000 - is alcohol. If a normal lager is 5% alcohol, that means in alcohol terms you would have to drink 100 bottles (I think...) of no-alcohol becks to equate to one normal one. If you drink say 5 bottles, you'll be having the same amount of alcohol as if you had one large gulp of normal lager. I think it's OK!

LionstarBigPants · 12/06/2009 16:06

I'd recommend non-alchol Cobra beer over the Becks. Though Becks over Kaliber any day.

Baisey · 12/06/2009 16:09

muffle you have just made my brain explode.

muffle · 12/06/2009 16:10

You should see mine! melted and dribbling out of my ears

FlightofFancy · 12/06/2009 16:13

Ooooh, non-alcohol Cobra! Must try and track that down! Hope it tastes more like the alcoholic version than the Becks!
Non-alcohol Becks poured in to a glass is making the pre-12 weeks pretending not to be 'not drinking' much more feasible...

insertwittynicknameHERE · 12/06/2009 16:13

Mmmm non alcohol Cobra is by far the best non alcohol beer I have tried.

My dad has been tee total(due to bad heart) for nearly 3 years and his cardiologist said it is fine. I drink it and I am 35 weeks pg.
Also Asda do a really nice range of non/low alcohol wine if you like wine.

TrillianAstra · 12/06/2009 16:15

Well done muffle, I was about to do the maths too.

MIFLAW · 12/06/2009 16:16

Essentially what muffle says.

And what everyone else says, viz, that it tastes like piss.
