bikini v's Tankini at 7 month pregnant

We're going on hols and I can't find a maternity tankini for under about £30 which seems like a lot for something I am only going to wear for a week and then never again so would you spend the cash or wear a bikini - not sure I am brave enough to wear a bikini at 7 months pregnant!

If you wear a tankini you will be showing some of your bump anyway. All tankinis I have ever seen (maternity or not) have a gap between the end of the top and the beginning of the bottoms.

I went to tenerife when I was 29 weeks and wore a bikini- i had an obvious bump but luckily no stretch marks. I didn't like the styles of the tankini's and also the price! I splashed out and got maternity bikini as i do a lot of swimming whilst preg and figured it will fit better whilst breast feeding etc when baby is born!

I went to the beach 2 weeks ago 7 months pregnant and was wearing a bikini. Don't have any stretch marks either, so quite happy with my bump (although it's HUGE already!). It was bit wierd first but like pistachio said there's much bigger bellies around you anyway! To me one holiday was not worth spending money on pregnancy tankini, so didn't even seriously consider it.

7 months is ideal - not too bumpy but bumpy enough that everyone realise you are defo pg and not fat!

Don't think we are still in a time/age where people are shocked at seeing a pg bump - I might draw the line at going topless. . . . .

Another vote for saving your money and wearing your bikini!

If you wear a bikini be sure to take extra care of the skin on your bump (and more care than usual over your skin in general) because the hormones and stretched skin will make you very prone to burning.

I also got a tankini top for holiday which I wore with the black bikini bottoms I already had. It was £10 from Dorothy Perkins.

Next time I wouldn't bother I don't think, as a bikini would have been fine - although you do need to be careful of burning your bump.
