thinking of signing up for pregnancy yoga ,have never done yoga before ,just wondered if anyone else out there had tried it . TBH more interested in the breathing and relaxation techniques as opposed to the bendy bit as am hoping to have a home birth

Did a wonderful course when pg with ds and a rubbish one when preg with dd
The good one was with a very very experienced teacher, focused very much on breathing, but also did a lot on birth positions, massage etc and was a proper 'course' rather than drop-in, which meant we all progressed and learnt. I gave birth 4 weeks early, before attending much in the way of AN, and actually, I'd learnt everything I needed to know from the yoga classes.

did a fab course from 17 until 35 weeks when I stopped being able to drive (bump/steering wheel issues!). Am not one for 'alternative' treatments etc but it has really helped in terms of the exercise which was gentle and relaxing and socially was good too. Similar to funnypeculiar I missed out on antenatal classes (due to a hospital cock up) but on talking to others think most of what was covered has been talked about in the yoga classes too. Am now 40+5 and have been doing a little bit each day.

Not sure where you are in the country but I would be happy to point you in the direction of mine if you are in/around Cambridge

I did and really enjoyed it. The breathing excersises are really good and it really does give you good preparation if you are planning an active birth.

Sadly with DS2 I didn't get to use any of it labour as he ended up emergency c/s. But I am now pg with DC3 and will definitely do classes again, and hopefully get to use what I've learned

In Knaresborough by any chance? I'm starting there next week. Attended the classes in my previous pregnancy and there were fantastic. Not only a bit of stretching, relaxation, breathing, but the chat afterwards. Ever so useful. Really looking forward Wednesdays!
Oh, and I also made some very good friends.

Yes I did it whilst pregnant with ds2. Was my favourite part of the whole week, I totally adored it, and I had never done it before.

The breathing and stretching exercises were so helpful when it came to giving birth.

In fact after my last lesson, I went home, had some toast, had a massive contraction, midwife came to the hosue ,and was 8cm dilated!

I blame the yoga for me not even noticing that .

I actually didn't have to wait at all this time but I chose to wait until the 20 week scan. You need to send a £20 deposit and then I think it's £8 or £9 a lesson? Sorry, cannot remember now. Definitely go for it. If you phone them, they'll be able to assist, they are all so lovely there.
