Hi all - sorry TMI but yesterday suddenly got diarrhoea (spelling -sorry) was up three times in the night and this morning. Feeling much better now and drinking lots of water but am worried. It is Bank Holiday Sunday and I do not want to go to Aand E as really I am feeling fine. The diarrhoea came with stomach cramps which was scary but no blood. I am scared I am not doing the right thing by not getting checked out.....

sorry just to add - the Doctors surgery is closed, I wouldn't normally rush to A and E as any option unless a dire emergency.

How about NHS Direct? They should be able to advise.

Hi rostbeef hope you starting to feel better. I too am pregnant(12 weeks) and have had diarrhoea which lasted 4 days. I rang NHS Direct and was told the biggest worry was dehydration as beanie is taking all our reserves, i was told to make sure i was drinking plenty of fluids, to make sure i was passing plenty of urine (as lack of is a sign of dehydration) and not to bother about eating if i didnt feel up to it, if i did just to eat plain carbs-bread,pasta, potatoes etc.

Hiya Rostbeef. I just wanted to see how you are this morning. What did NHS Direct advise you to do? I'm only 5 weeks pregnant and I've been getting regular bouts of diarrhea too. What I find scarey is how stomach cramps and 'period' cramps are not easily distinguishable (spellt right?!!!).

Hello
I am not pg, but broodily lurking as ttc at the mo.
Anyhoo - i just wanted to say that for the first 12 weeks or so diarrhoea was a bit of a symptom of my last pregnancies (in my second it it was actually the first symptom that made me think something was up!).
As pp said the doc just told me to keep fluid levels up and not to worry.
Hope you are feeling better today!

Hi all, just back on MN: thank you so much for checking in. The diarrhoea lasted until yesterday! I was advised by NHS to watch my fluid levels and drink at least two litres a day. I have had my first appointment with the midwife and she said the same. I have read that it can be a reaction to the hormones coursing about!
feeling SO much better today but you are so right Jardins - its the cramps that are scary!!
Hope you guys are all OK.
