Hi I am 5+2 weeks pregnant from ivf frozen embryo transfer. Had a mmc in feb also from ivf. I have been using the clear blue conception indicator and it still says 2-3 week from conception ie 4-5 weeks pg. I was wondering if anyone else has used these and if so when it went up to 3+ weeks. Had back ache and a few cramps at the weekend terrified I have had an other mmc.

Thanks everyone. Wonderwitch with my first pg I only did one test and that was it, but after 2 ectopic pg and 1 miscarriage I am a wee bit paranoid to say the least. I would love not to have to worry.

Great news on the 3+ Rainbow, Cedar and Mowmi - must be so reassuring and congratulations on your pregnancies - that I've not said that already to some of you. Good luck for Wednesday Cedar, my scan is not until the following Wednesday. I'm now feeling like the dunce in the class stuck on 2-3 , but I'm not testing again until I feel confident that the sample is not too dilute to get the 3+. I have a new plan to avoid wasting money on the CB digi - I remembered I had internet cheapies which are rubbish and don't give very strong lines so I used one on Friday on the same sample as the CB digi - the line was just paler than the test line - and am only going to do another CB digi if I get a darker line on the cheapie first - well that's the plan, probably go to pot in a few days and I'll be banging on my GPs door asking for blood tests !

Wonderwitch - I'm not sure where you are but in the UK there is a pg test which tells you how many weeks passed conception you are, so we are testing to check that the pregnancy hormones are increasing. It's not available in a lot of countries yet including the US.

Hi everyone else.

rainbowdays · 24/05/2009 19:41

cedar - grin, great news that you got the 3+, and excited to be waiting to hear how you get on on wednesday's scan. I had early scans with my previous pregnancies and it was a real reassurance (execpt on the one where the sonographer was useless and could not find anything!)

Issy - good for you for sticking to the internet cheapies. I have been occasionally still testing with internet cheapies too, but still not got as dark at the control line yet. I think all tests are not good for our blood pressures!!!!!

Wonderwitch - the tests as Issy said are tests that give either not pregnant, pregnant 1-2, pregnant 2-3 or pregnant 3+ results, which are supposed to indicate how far past conception a person is. So 2-3 is generally considered at 4-5 weeks pregnant and 3+ is more than 5 weeks pregnant. But they are notoriously unreliable, and whilst reassuring in someways that the pregnancy is progressing, in other ways it does not help. However I think that those of us here have all had recent m/c's or chemical pregnancies and are anxious to know if the pregnancies are progressing ok. I hope this explains why we are a bit more nervous than would have been otherwise. We are all mentally preparing for the possibility of yet another m/c. But I hope that we are all heading finally for successful pregnancies.

Thanks anniemac I have followed your story as well. I lurk in the hut to check up on you and Lissie!
I really think its a good sign and the 2-3 weeks sound just right. But I know what you mean about worrying I think they will always be some thing. When I got my 3 + weeks yesterday I stopped worrying about that then worried I had given myself food poisoning with my BBQ skills!

Hi anniemac - I recognise your name from the conception boards too. Congratulations on your pregnancy . I was reading about molar pregnancy the other day and severe sickness is one of the signs, as well as elevated hcg levels - I would have thought you'd be getting the 3+ if that were the case. Appreciate why you're worrying though - what a thing for your doctor to say!

I wasn't worrying too much until I read Mowmi's post on the AC thread (don't worry Mowmi anything triggers a panic in me at the moment). So I googled and found a thread where someone had phoned Clearblue and they said they can be a week out. I did the internet cheapie this morning and got a darker line than Friday so did the Clearblue too and got the 3+, at last!

BTW what day do you start counting from when working out how far along you are? I had EC (equivalent of ov) on Monday 27th so am I 6w or 6w1d today? My clinic actually counts from ET day so to them I'm only 5w2d today, which seems strange as online calculators date from EC. I've noticed from my FF thread that they tend to move the EDD back a few days with each scan though so ends up being the same as if dated from EC day. I had ET on the Saturday and didn't have any signs of implantation until the Friday when I had the teeniest bit of spotting - well it was one spot rather than spotting. Just thought that may explain why I'm a week late getting my 3+.

Hope you're all enjoying the bank holiday.

MrsHappy · 25/05/2009 12:01

Anniemac - congratulations on your pregnancy.
Is there any reason why your GP mentioned molar pregnancy. It's so rare that it's a really odd thing to say to a woman who has just got a BFP. Perhaps he just suffers from foot-in-mouth syndrome...
I think you should just try to put it out of your mind (easier said than done) but unless there is evidence that you need to worry it is simply a throw-away comment from someone who unfortunately did not engage their brain before opening their mouth.

I'm so sorry Cedar.
Hope you're as ok as possible.

mowmi · 27/05/2009 20:01

oh cedar I'm so sorry - the same thing happened to me in January...it's so unfair. Look after yourself.
Have to admit I'm so frightened about my scan next week - I keep imagining the same thing will happen all over again

mowmi · 27/05/2009 20:02

what did they tell you to do? do you need another one in a few days?

cedar12 · 28/05/2009 08:44

Have to have another scan they wanted to do one next week but we are going away. So will be scanned when I get back. Not sure whether to go away or not. My dd is 6 and is so excited.

Dear cedar12, I just wanted to tell you how sorry I am to hear your story. How are you feeling today? What will you decide re: going away? We are all different and you MUST do what is right for you, but maybe it would be good for you to get away; your daughter will be happy and you will get away from it all even if you are also taking it all with you. Goodness, that's not very clear, is it?

I had a mmc in March at around 6.5 weeks and am currently pregnant again (5.5 weeks). I test on CD 28 with CB indicator and got a 1-2 week measurement. I have absolutely refused to test again with those awful things as I am anxious enought after the mc and I just don't want to do my poor head in.

Anyway, please know that I'm with you.

cedar12 · 28/05/2009 13:13

Not to bad to day i supose I just have to get on with things. Just got back from the ball pit with dd. No bleeding yet thought it was going to start last night but nothing. Had a crap nights sleep last night so will have an early night to night I think.

Hello all. history has repeated its self - went for scan today and once again there was nothing but an empty sac. We've got to go back in 10 days but I have no hope. I am so gutted.
Cedar - hope you're doing ok

rainbowdays · 29/05/2009 23:07

Cedar - so sorry to hear that things don't look good.

Mowmi - have they told you that there is no hope?

I had a similar experience 5 years ago, was scanned at 6+ weeks (I think it was 6+5 but can't remember now), was told there was an empty sac, no fetal pole etc. so I had either got my dates wrong or was m/c-ing. Went back a couple of weeks later and found that my original dates were exactly right and all was well, dd was fine. Early scanning is notoriously unreliable, and I hope hope hope that you both have stories like mine when you go back. It is so hard to be dealing with the horrible limbo of waiting for confirmation of fears or not. I feel for both of you.

mowmi · 30/05/2009 09:38

Hi Rainbow. She said the sac measured about 5.5 weeks - I' fairly sure on my dates and reckon I'm 6. She spent quite a lot of time trying to find something but it was totally empty - just like last time! I asked how often she saw this situation come good and she wasn't at all hopeful...talked about getting pain relief in etc...
Have to go back Monday week.

I've no hope full stop now, not on this and not for any future pregs. We just can't seem to get past a sac!

How are you?
x

rainbowdays · 30/05/2009 13:35

Mowmi - so sorry you are feeling so hope-less, it is not fair when people go through things like this. Will be thinking of you and despite you not having any hope (and I can understand that), if you don't mind I will hold on to a little hope for you. Just to follow on from my story from yesterday, I went to look up the details from my pregnancy diary, and I went for the scan at 7 weeks and they saw an empty sac, with possibly something inside, but did not look like a fetal pole or heartbeat as it should have been at that time. So things can happen that should not. So I will hold onto a little bit of hope for you, if you don't mind, as I have been in that black pit of dispair that you are in now, and know that it does not always turn out the way we expect.

Issy42 · 30/05/2009 17:44

Cedar and Mowmi - so, so sorry to hear your news. Really hoping that things will have changed for you next time you're scanned and you will have a better ending, but sending you lots of love and hugs to get through this difficult time.

glimmer · 30/05/2009 19:13

I am so sorry to hear about what you are going through, Cedar and Mowmi. I am with Rainbowdays: I think so much has gone right to have an empty sac, that you are able to have a viable pregnancy. If not this time, then hopefully next time. I am not sure this is helping. I have been there and it was devastating. And if it hits you twice (or more) it's even more heartbreaking. But so, so many things have gone right, please don't give up just yet.
