How soon can you test for pregnancy?

I think I may be PG and I can't decide wether to wait to see if my AF arrives or buy an early PG test.

How soon can you test and which are the best ones to buy?

With my second pg I knew from the moment of conception literally. After we'd 'done the business' I turned to my noe xp and said, god I bet Im pregnant. This was just because we wernt trying and had just been a bit silly!

I tested 9 days after DH and I had sex.... yes it was the one and only time that month!!! And I got a faint +ve with Boots own brand. I have a 31 days cycle. My AF wasn't due for another 5 days! .... I had verrrrry looooong pregnancy, and a gorgeous DD too!

the thing is im getting a sore tummy every day, feeling sick, and i just feel like something is there. i will be gutted if its false!

Just wondering if I can buy the 'ultra early' pregnancy tests in the high street because I dont have a credit card to buy on the net.

Anna, try your local Poundland - mine has babystart tests for ... a pound! They are very sensitive and the expensive ones are no better, they just make it easier for you to test and interpret. Grab yourself a pot and get going!

Annainmanchester - 9 days after conception is about the earliest I've heard of a test being able to pick up HCG levels.... so Boots own seem to be good. If you're feeling sick etc....then you may be further on!! When was your last AF?

I got a +ive with ClearBlue (normal and digital) 11 days after ovulation - which was 3 days before AF was due.

I'm not far gone Toothache.....jsut took a test yesterday, but only had sex about 2 weeks back and not due to come on my period til next week, but I will go and buy the poundland one!

I bought the poundland one.....gonna test me now. Please wish me luck

It showed negative. Should I try again in the morning when the hormone is supposed to show the most or should I just admit defeat? It might be as well its negative as i've just found out something about my dp that isnt too nice (see the Relationship forum)....i'm having a shit day!

Sorry to hear you're having a rough time Anna, it may just be too early to test - I found the poundland one just as accurate as clearblue but I was a few days late.

I'm going to wait til I'm late and then test again. Plz plz plz fingers crossed! Although would it be selfish to have a baby in a single parent relationship?

oh, and I heard that you it might show in the morning rather than the night time because of your hormone levels?

Wait a bit and buy plenty of pound ones! I wouldn't like to judge about being a single mum - it will be tough. I was a single mum of 3 before I met my dp, but my youngest was 4. Plenty of people do it through choice or otherwise and do just fine. Better one loving parent than two who hate each other I say.

Yes that is true especially very early on, although I tested 8pm at night with the £ one! I think now they are so sensitive it doesn't matter - when do you think you are due on? I've never tested before my due date.

im due on around the 13th - 16th

well I tested again this morning and it showed negative

Will mjust have to wait to c if me periods come now!

Thats still quite a long way off (poss 9 days)
