sensitive nipples and breast feeding

I can't believe i'm asking this but it's been on my mind since before i was pregnant and i could never ask anyone in real life. I would really like to breast feed my baby, but, well my nipples are very very sensitive usually and play a major part in any foreplay that takes place. They are soo sensitive i can almost orgasm by nipple stimulation alone. Will this continue and prevent me from breast feeding? Or will the sensitivity change? and if it does will it go back to the way it is eventually. It something i feel ashamed about now i'm pregnant.

Because it's your baby it's a totally different feeling IMO

Me too, and it hurts too much to start with for any pleasure and then your skin thickens and changes.
We are perfectly designed to have breasts for each occasion without confusion!!!

I'd forgotten the pain!

I had quite sensitive nipples pre-BF and found that although yes it was painful to start with (mainly through being engorged) it did not compare in any way to the sort of stimulation you'd get from a partner. Once DD was weaned I found that my nipples were slightly less sensitive than before for a while, but then became much more sensitive again after about 3 months not BF'ing.

HTH!! xxx

Brestfeeding is more about breast than nipple as the nipple is only rubbing against the soft part of their mouth at the back so more likeif you were washing with a flannel stimulation IYSWIM. Also your hormones change so it changes how you react to things.

Hmm. I don't know how much you know about breastfeeding, but many (not all) women find the first time quite painful. Nothing, you can't endure, but it's good to be prepared. It's also very important to know that this generally goes away after the first few weeks, unless there is something wrong, e.g. your baby has a wrong latch etc. Thus, if you want to bf, it's good to try for at least a few weeks. I am pregnant with #2 and still bfing, and my nipples get very sore at times. I think that has to do with the hormones, so that's to be considered as well. But I would think that once the baby is born, you will adjust and CAN breastfeed, if you wish.
