Tower Hamlets GPs - do they give referral to epu without spotting, if there is a history of m/c?

I have just come back from doc. 6+1 weeks pregnant, 2 miscarriages in the past at 9 weeks.
I desperately want a scan to reassure me, but the doc wouldn't as I don't have any spotting and it is not policy (apparently) in Tower Hamlets. I didn't want to lie about having m/c symptoms, but I thought she would be a bit more sympathetic to my situation and say it didn't matter and she'd refer me anyway. No...she patronised me, touched my knee, tried to show she was empathetic by talking at me about my last miscarriage (something I did not want to do) and saying she cared...bla bla bloody bla..whatever, but wouldn't refer.

Is it worth trying a different doctor or are they all the same?

THres not sure if they're all the same, although with my first pregnancy which was in TH I did find them a little unhelpful. If you can get there, there's a walk in centre at St George's in Tooting. You don't have to be local - you just tuen up and they'll see you.

EPU list
You can self refer to St George's in Tooting - it is a turn up and wait service in the morning

I think St Thomas' is similar

I said I'd heard of that place, so I mentioned it to her. She said it wouldn't be fair as there would be other women there who had bleeding etc..
Have you been there, sunshinemummy? Is it a major scrum and the waits really long? I have my youngest with me (20 months) so don't know if she'll tolerate a big wait.

Eldon, that's a good list thanks. St Thomas' is a lovely epu, but my SIL works there and I want to keep this private - even though she is lovely.

THres I was at the EPU at St George's a couple of weeks ago; I got sent there for dating as I have crazy cycles, and not because of miscarriage fears, so it's pretty poor of your doctor to say it "wouldn't be fair" on other women. I got there a couple of hours after it opened, and there were only three women ahead of me - it wasn't exactly packed with bleeding, panicking women!

You should definitely go, especially with your history. Can't believe your GP was so unsympathetic.

By the way, I was there for just under an hour in total, from walking in to leaving. Make sure you go during the week, if possible - I think the Saturday session is far busier. I think I went on a Tuesday.

I'm not sure the early one at St Thomas's is walk in. There is a later one.

I didn't use the St George's one but friend did and she thought it was wonderful. I went to A&E at C&W but I did have some bleeding.

I think the fairness comment from your doctor is a little unfair.
