Morning sickness food insipration

Help me! I'm 11 and a half weeks, and even thinking about food makes me gip. There is no food in the house that I want to eat, but I'm absolutely starving, and starting to feel more and more sick!

I know this is trivial compared to some people who vomit non-stop, but I can't bear the thought of cooking anything for more than about 30 seconds, or the smell of cooked food. Even the thought of eating salt and vinegar crisps isn't appealing, and eating raw fruit and veg (the thought of which doesn't make me want to vom) makes me feel even worse.

Anyone got any ideas of what I can eat? I need other people to think for me, because the more I think about it, the worse I feel!

Had no sickness at all in first preg - this time suffered much more. COuld only get stomach settled enough to eat br drinking coke - had to be full fat proper coke, and cold! Then I could manage bits of food - mainly bread / toast / crumpets, Cheerios, fishcakes and wotsits - ate packets of them.

I ate so well in my last pregnancy - this time round I mainly want to eat things like sausage rolls, fish fingers and chips, etc. At 19 weeks, I still can't stomach chicken!

YanknCock · 12/05/2009 16:03

JemL, that is uncanny. For some weeks of this pregnancy, I ate exactly all the things you mentioned, right down to the wotsits.

Sausage roll and Coke this morning. And I'm still having the chicken aversion at 25 weeks!

MrsHappy · 12/05/2009 18:03

I'm off chicken too (and went off it in my last pregnancy). Strange, huh?

JRocks · 12/05/2009 18:13

Crumpets were my friend early on... also those bread rolls that are part baked which you then finish off in the oven.

I am soooooo glad I read this link!

Am first time pregnant and having the worst week of sickness, have to admit have not coped at all am single so have to muster the enthusiasum to make myself food which is sooo hard atm! Few ideas -

Cottage pie

glass of milk

haribo fruit jellies

Was feeling so bad I wasn't eating and could only face ready meals because cooking smells is a no go...but am glad I'm not alone!

Tillyscoutsmum · 12/05/2009 20:11

Fresh coconut is another good one for me. Just keep it in bite size chunks in the fridge and have a piece when nausea hits. I think its mainly the chewing action getting rid of the excess saliva that helps but it also gives a bit of an energy hit to make something more substantial.

nappyaddict · 12/05/2009 23:57

Hi TSM did you get the link on facebook to the night out thread?

Rupali · 24/05/2009 13:30

Hi Naetha,

I am also at the same condition, feel hunger all the times but couldn't eat enough food to fill my hunger... me hating food right now...please suggest somebody. when would i start feeling good about my pregnency ...

sockmonster · 24/05/2009 16:30

When I was pg with dd I ate obscene amounts of:

syrupy tinned peaches

m&s ready made custard

cinnamon cakes and buns

marmite toast

cheese!

jacket potatos with cheese and beans

more cheese

and orange juice.

That was my exclusive diet anything else made me throw up.

I think I felt more sick if I hadn't eaten so munching something high-carb helped the nausea, as long as it wasn't spicy, or healthy!
