How do the NCT sales work. I am not a member of the NCT yet have DD's baby stuff to sell. Someone recommended that I used the NCT nearly new sales to sell stuff- how do I go about this? Do I need to join the NCT first, how much do I have to donate from my sales to the NCT? I am 22wks pg so am quite happy to sign up as a member of my local branch.
If you have sold stuff through the NCT, please can you tell me how you go about it. Many many thanks.

go to the nct site - can't remember which ine it is but its something like nctpregnanctandchildren.co.uk and find your local site and find out when the sale is. there usually is a number to call to register as seller. most ncts have sales in march and september. they will take 30-40%. you don't have to be a member to sell.

Some have the traditional sales where you label everything up and it gets sold and they take commission - some only take 25%. Others do a table top sale where you hire a table and sell your stuff yourself like a car boot sale!

Find your local branch and ask them.

Each branch may work differently . I'm in Croydon and here there are two ways to sell.

  1. You can register and get a sellers pack this costs £3.50 and you get all your labels. You then label everything clearly stating what it is and how much you want to charge (writing what an item is, is important as if you label falls off it can be reattached)your stuff then goes on general tables. At our sales sellers are welcome to volunteer and help out and this can be useful if you are selling large items which need explaining or even haggling.
  1. You can rent a table where you sell your own stuff.

Sellers are expected to return at the end to collect their unsold stuff.

A word of advice - seller places go VERY quickly in most areas so when you know the registration date, put it in your diary and e-mail/phone on the dot of registration time! (Our 120 seller places went in half an hour last October)
