I'm up again as hubby has moved into the spare room due to my snoring, we've not spent a night together for nearly 2 weeks and it's really getting me down. We always try but the minute I sleep he says it's unbearable. I hate waking up and he's not there and am beginning to feel like roommates. Is it common and will it go away once baby is born?
have tried extra pillows, nasal strips, and no pillows but nothing works
Sorry to whinge

I don't know how common it is but I did it

FWIW it stopped after the baby was born.

yay! have just been doing a bit of surfing and it seems to be a fairly common thing.
p.s I meant housemates rather than roommates
Thanks for the reply

Separate rooms were sometimes the norm last preg and alas it's happened again this time, but not all the time.

Apparently I sound like a moose in distress and I also can't keep still.....

Not my fault if I ache after lying in one position for too long.

I know what you mean about being housemates. Have a snog in the kitchen and a cuddle in the bathroom?!! Housemates don't usually do this

I did, used to wake DH up so had those breath right strips in the end! The night DD was born i did it and was embarrassed in hospital but by the time I'd got home i'd stopped!

norktasticninja · 08/05/2009 08:26

'tis normal I'm afraid. I see it as natures revenge on DP - he snores pretty badly and can't understand me complaining about it or trying to get him to sleep on his side

With DD it stopped pretty smartish after the birth.

TotallyAndUtterlyPaninied · 08/05/2009 09:11

Oh yes I was a ridiculous snorer, too.

whomovedmychocolate · 08/05/2009 09:14

It's to do with you needing more oxygen in pregnancy and breathing through your mouth, combined with increased blood flow giving your breathing more gusto

Personally I also looked pretty like walrus in late pregnancy.

But it does go. I used to wake myself up snoring then fight leg pains for another hour or so before repeating the cycle.

yawningprincess · 08/05/2009 09:23

urm yes- My dh referred to my snoring as a Bear wrestling a pig- not only did I wake my dh, but my dd too.

The nasal thingys worked for me and also lavender on your pillow helps.

Mine has stopped although it did rear its ugly head last night which actually woke me and that takes some doing!

toomuchpicknmix · 08/05/2009 10:34

I wake myself up too as well as waking DP and I cannot believe the noise I am making. He tries not to grumble but it does annoy him. I think he'd go in the spare room if we had one (renovations). Am assured it stops after birth, don't despair.

misscreosote · 08/05/2009 13:04

Oh yes, totally normal. You wait until you have to spend a night or more on a maternity ward pre/post baby (if you have to) - its bloomin impossible to sleep unless you have earplugs - nothing to do with the babies, just the snoring!

It goes. But then after baby arrives you might also want to sleep in different rooms for a bit to cope with night feeds etc, so you both get a lifesaving core 4 hours or whatever a night. Its all a beautiful and miraculous experience . But it does go back to normal (ish) eventually.

Thank you for giving me hope and making me laugh when I'm in a really cranky mood from lack of sleep!
I was very worried about the prospect of being the evil snorer on the labour ward but now have hope I wont be the worst!!
whomovedmychocolate- I also resemble a walrus
and yawningprincess pmsl at bear wrestling a pig!

jstock - in my recent pregnancy I was in the labour ward for a month - it was like a hooferfest every sodding night. You will not be alone!
