SPD - how soon after birth did you feel better?

I have had mild-ish SPD for my last pregnancy, and had a lovely DS on Saturday night. I was hoping that some of the SPD symptoms / pain would have started to ease of by now but apart from being able to walk better (probably because of no bump weight) I think some of the pain and clicky pelvis seems to be getting worse e.g. getting in and out of bed, walking down stairs etc.

Can anyone reassure me that this is normal?! Or should I be seeking help now, or wait until my hormones have levelled out a bit?

How soon should I expect to feel back to pre-pregnancy days when I couldn't click my pelvis?

TIA

I'm not sure what the expected norm is, but I felt better as soon as my epidural wore off last time. My SPD was definitely made worse by the weight of the baby/pregnancy, once this element was removed, for me I felt loads better.

It wouldn't do any harm to make some enquiries with your GP.

It took 12 weeks for the worst of the pain to subside (but I had pretty bad SPD and was on crutches by the end) and even now nearly seven months on I still get some discomfort. Having seen my gp he expects it to take a year for all the symptoms to die down.
Sorry of that's not the answer you wanted

I had very bad SPD in my last pregnancy.
Sorry to tell you this but it might not go away...

I am still suffering 13 months on. There is also a mumsnetter on here I've read about that suffers with it 13 years on...

Hopefully for you it will go away soon.
Good luck though x

DS2 is 11 months and though it's better, I'm still in pain every day.

I'm still having physio for it too.

I would mention it sooner rather than later and get to see a physio to get you back in full working order.

Congratulations on your new lo btw!

I had SPD from 18 weeks and tho pretty bad, I didn't get as far as crutches.. I felt am almost immediate improvement after birth but still experienced symptoms for about 6 months after birth if I had done a lot of walking etc.

Funnily enough I started to realise that I used to get SPD symptoms during my periods before the pregnancy and still a little afterwards..

One tip that I'm sure we have all heard lots of times is 'regulalry exercise your pelvic floor' it really does help..
