Has anyone tried M&P Ultima?

As title says, looking at Mamas & Papas Ultima combination pram. Has anyone tried it? The things I like are:

  • separate flat cot
  • forward & rear facing pushchair
  • swivel wheels option on MPX chassis

In terms of my needs- well, I live it a flat on the second floor (no lift). Don't have a car, so not as bothered about fitting it into a car or anything like that.

Thanks for any advice!

the only thing i would say is it is heavy , you would have to carry the chassis and carrycot separately ,unless you have somewhere safe on the ground floor to store the chassis or you have really shallow steps that you would feel comfortable pushing a baby down.

I had the older style without the air tyres. It looked lovely (and still does) the seat unit is big, the carry cot is very practical and it is lovely to push which is important when you don't have a car. I also never had any problems with it in the car as it is not too wide compared with the three wheeler I ended up with.
However I also lived in a second story flat and had to bump it up the stairs most days and it lasted 11 months before the back wheels fell off. The new style might be better with the air tyres or the mpx chassis. I did then buy a three wheel pram which was much easier up and down the stairs as the tyres were much bigger.

In a flat - no. I had one it was crap.
Get something with big wheels so you can bump it gently up the stairs. Otherwise when your baby falls asleep in it you are fecked unless you leave it in the stairwell.

Yes I got it for:

  • forward/rear facing cot and pushchair
  • flat cot
  • generous size and quite sturdy so comfy for sleeping babies and long walks.

Been really pleased with it and I can't recommend it enough.

It is quite big though - almost old fashioned I suppose compared to the bugaboo - so I don't know how you'd manage getting it up to a second floor flat.

What didn't you like Metatron?

Not had any mechanical problems in nearly two years but it doesn't have to go up many stairs. It does get chucked in and out of the car a lot though.

I also got the car seat to go with it but wasn't keen and would say leave this. It seemed far too upright for a newborn.

I hated the fact that It nearly killed me getting it up the stairs to my flat (ist floor three firedoors .

Once dd was out of the carrycot it was impossible to bump up stairs as too heavy and she always woke up . Meant that I never got any benefit out of her naps if she fell asleep in it.

Moved for dd2 to a house and used it a lot and liked it as a pram. Really heavy for pushing though compared to an air wheeled buggy.
