What's your fantasy post-baby meal?

ie. one which brings together all your favourite things which you're not allowed to eat?

I am thinking:

lobster with home-made mayonnaise
a cheese board consisting entirely of runny and blue cheeses - Stinking Bishop, Brie, and something blue and goaty
copious wine

Realistically, I reckon I could make mayonnaise with the baby in a front carrier, but dh may have to hold it while I boil the lobster.

What are you fantasising about eating?

definatly pate on toast, not sure what other foods, ive already told dh he's to buy me a big bottle of Kick after i've had the baby, missing my caffine fix soo much.

I did crave liver pate after ds was born - which I assume was to do with losing blood.
Good idea to have it as immediate post-baby picnic.

Yum!

I crave massively unhealthy deep fried Chinese meals like crispy shredded beef with egg fried rice. Unfortunatley have to avoid this as get world's worst indigestion and constipation if I eat crap!

(ps: runny eggs are fine you know! just make sure they have the Lion mark ie chicken vaccinated against salmonella.)

A huge amount of Farmhouse Pate. It's the only thing I miss.

Salmon eggs and caviar with creme fraiche on blinis with a glass of champagne.

Rare steak :D

Unpasteurised cheeses and a glass of red wine.

I hope my aversion to eggs is not permanent, even if I hard boil them they make me so sick now that I really don't fancy them anymore.

Ahhh LadyMetroland, I REALLY want a chinese now, but I'm home alone with ds at the monent and our chinese doesn't deliver .

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm never mind the post-baby stuff - I'm hungry just reading this thread!

When I came home from hospital with DS, I'd had a portion of hospital fish pie and a bit of toast in 48 hours and I was ravenous. My (V)DSIL presented me with a box of lovely rough oatcakes and a selection of gourmet pates.

I abandoned my precious newborn and stuffed myself silly in the kitchen

funtimewincies · 30/04/2009 20:34

I will definitely be asking dh to bring lots of food to the hospital this time. Ds was born at 8.30am, so missed breakfast. Slept through lunch and no-one woke me up and was presented with a salad for tea having not eaten for 24 hours. And I was breastfeeding. I might have had a slight sense of humour failure if I'm honest .

Parma ham, blue cheeses, tiramisu, ! Gin and tonic, mojito cocktails, and lots of them... Ooh I can't wait! Only 10 weeks to go ...

Kathyis6incheshigh · 01/05/2009 10:49

LadyMetroland - my post-baby mayonnaise will be made from eggs provided by my dh's colleague who keeps chickens. I'd never had proper home-laid eggs before, had some the other week and they were amazing!
Just as long as they are still laying enough at the end of October....

Liver, mash and onion gravy.
After ds1 was born, and as I wasn't bf, I wanted this to be one of the first meals I had post delivery so I went to the supermarket and got some bits, cooked up, started eating and discovered I'd bought pigs liver instead of lambs. Not nice. haven't touched liver since.

lal123 · 01/05/2009 11:01

A runny boiled egg with toast. Followed by a big lump of runny brie. Won't be drinking as will be bfing.

Don't understand the whole prawn/lobster/mussels thing - shellfish is fine as long as its cooked properly?

betterthanlife · 01/05/2009 11:02

Given that it turns out I can eat most of my craved foods (weekend of feasting ahead ) I have changed my mind.

In consultation with DH, he will make me a beefburger and cook it until still a bit bloody and serve it up with a wodge of blue cheese on top just starting to melt. Also a snackette of a few rounds of toast and large mound of chicken liver pate. Yum.

Astrophe · 01/05/2009 11:04

(whats wrong with scampi? And baked camenbert is fine surely?)

I will be having sushi, prawn dumplings, cooked cold prawns with mayo, runny brie and crusty bread, thick yummy ham, maybe some pate, and a big glass of red.

For dessert, cookie dough (raw egg) - cocolate with choc chips - and a hot chocolate pudding with the yummy (raw eggy) sauce inside that oozes out...mmmmmmm.

12 weeks to go.

You can have baked camembert, as it's been cooked - I checked, as I love it!
