I know, I know, I have heard it all before, it will pass in a week and a half (did not with DD), its not that bad (it is) have you tried ginger? (i hate it but yes have some tea now), its normal in pg you just got to deal with it, you are pg not ill, you have to eat something, it is because you are hungry, it is making you feel sick.

I have tried wrist bands, rich tea biscuits in the morning, banana, pasta.

In the meantime, it is getting more violent, my throat hurts, my skin is going wrinkly, my eyes are bloodshot and I am reaching the end of my tolerance.

Please give me some suggestions of what I can try to eat right now that will either a) stay down or b) have the least impact coming back up, as I am hungry but can't face food anymore.

Thank you in advance.

The only thing that eased it for me was spearmint softmints. Bought the multipacks from Tesco and had them stashed all over the place. I actually went nearly a fortnight without eating anything else.

When things settled down slightly I used to eat a big bowl of branflakes with a large handful of raisins and a chopped banana mixed in first thing in the morning.

The only thing I could eat in the evenings was either wholemeal pasta with peas and sweetcorn topped with grated cheese (and if I was being ambitious some black pepper) - definitely no pasta sauce. OR the same meal minus the pasta!

Apparently, both my breakfast and evening meals were surprisingly nutritious so it wasn't a disaster that I didn't eat anything else for a couple of months.

nothing works for me either, but I have found I am having a better time with very sltly high carb food. So at lunchtime I ate a small bowl of pasta with a little bit of butter and some salt and that stayed down and yesterday I managed a boiled egg (hard) with some toast and that stayed down. I think no spices, no massively rich foods and for me no meat.

Oh damn! I just sent DH to the shops with a list and forgot the popcorn and he has forgotten his mobile (contemplates getting customer services at sainsbury's to binbong him ).

Biglips - funny you should mention lemon, and since the sour thing has been mentioned, I am trying to conjure up things that do not make feel sick to think of, and I really quite fancy lime. DH said what about lime cordial, but that is too sweet, I actually fancy some actual lime, so I think DH is going to get some for me!

My list that he has taken is as follows:
beetroot
Fizzy water
French fries crisps
crumpets
imperial mints
melon
granny smith apples
crackers
limes

My nurse friend has just popped in to take DD off our hands for the evening to have a sleepover with her son. She said I looked awful, but checked and said little dehydrated but not too bad, which is good.

I had a few foods I could eat, and they changed regularly. White sliced bread and plain crisps featured quite heavily if I remember rightly. And ice cold full fat Coke, mashed potato, dry cereal, biscuits. Nothing really went down well, though. God, it was grim. I feel for you...

White bread with thin cheap ham were my fav thing when sick as well as full fat coke or really strong ribena.

Crisps were good for me too!

pavlovthepregnantcat · 25/04/2009 17:56

Ham - thats on the list
Mashed potato - AAAAAAGGGGH, I wish I had put that down!

Second the marmite on toast - lifesaver! Salt and vinegar crisps were great as well.

You poor thing, I was sick all the way through my first pregnancy. I used to cry every day because I felt so bad.

Ginger Beer worked for me, Tesco's own brand or Boots own brand.

I had ready salted walkers for breakfast most days. I sometimes had soft cheese with them.

pavlovthepregnantcat · 25/04/2009 18:29

ginger beer is the most vile tasting drink in the whole world! I bought some the other day, thinking I should try some ginger even though I dislike it. It made me want to hurl even more! I am crying most days too, not sure if its the sickness or the hormones!

Maybe I'll send you one of my fruit ice lolly's

I was so sick with my first dd but I'm 23 weeks pregnant now and this pregnancy has been so different. I was really sick for the first 14 weeks and then it just stopped. Ginger beer didn't work at all this time and when I was sick I was drinking mini cans of Pepsi and again managed to eat ready salted walkers.

How pregnant are you?

Confuzzeled · 25/04/2009 21:32

Oh sorry, I've just read the whole thread and I'm sorry about the ginger beer comment

Also just read your nearly 11 weeks pregnant so you might be like me and it may lift soon.

My little ms secret was burger king chips. There's one quite close to me so I would go and buy some almost every second day.....don't tell my dh

No personal experience but there have been a glut of pregnancies at work (just what I need when I'm broody!).

Various things that colleagues have used are crisps - any flavour, salted rice cakes and fruit ice lollies - all be the last one difficult at work!

Glad the peanut butter went down, hope it stayed down!

They're rethinking all the advice on peanuts now anyway---current research hypothesis is that avoiding peanuts makes allergy/eczema MORE likely. All so bloody confusing isn't it?

I just went out for greek food, definitely couldn't have set foot in the door about five weeks ago. Baby kicking like mad during meal, so either he likes it or is protesting being drowned in garlic.
