Yes - it needs to be frozen for 48 hours though, apparently. I had a minor freak out after eating a rare venison steak a few weeks ago, and had the toxoplasmosis test. I'm not immune Restaurant confirmed steak had been previously frozen though

PS - did you have any luck finding a mother's help?

ruty · 23/04/2009 18:47

if you have eaten lots of raw rare steak in the past, maybe you have contracted it already which would mean you are now immune?

MadamAnt · 23/04/2009 18:47

I should add that I'm not immune despite having had cats all my life, a penchant for rare meat and having "been around" lambing many time....so it must be kind of hard to catch!

ruty · 23/04/2009 18:52

yes i was surprised i have never caught it either. My sister has had it though, apparently from washing cat bowls in same sink as human bowls...
