Are there any warning signs? I mean I know the "Show", Contractions and breaking water are a bit of a give away but are there any more subtle signs I should be looking out for that will give me a bot of warning?
Thanks everyone in advance xxx

When are you due? Sometimes you might notice the contractions as more of a backache that comes and goes, and starts to get a pattern to it.

Losing the mucus plug can be a possible sign that your body is preparing, but it can also regenerate and you could go own for weeks still.

Some women will start to feel a bit ill...have loose bowel movements, maybe vomit...sort of like having a stomach bug either right before labour starts or in very early labour.

Water leaking, but not actually breaking...might feel like you need to use the toilet, but still feel some fluid leaking every several steps after you are done. Could just be more discharge at the end of pregnancy that is common, could be some urine leakage, but it were to continue, would be wise to have it checked.

Light bleeding or spotting....can be normal if you had recent intercourse or a pelvic exam, but if neither of those were in the last couple of days, it can be from the cervix starting to thin out.

In most cases, it will become fairly obvious that something is going on, and of course, when in doubt call your midwife.

i posted a similar thread about 6 wks ago (the day i went into labour!) for me it was waters breaking that was the giveaway, but i had had backache for about a week, but had put that down to dd being lop

it can be a pain waiting and waiting but that beautiful baby's going to be here soon! good luck

I agree with doulalc - I had back ache for a few days. I would then go to the loo and have fluid come out before I started actually weeing, then I'd finish weeing, only for more fluid to come out. I got in the bath, and saw little bits of (sorry for TMI ) phlegmy, stringy bits floating around. I had DS 12 hours later....

I am 38 weeks and a few days - The reason I wanted to know is because I have kind of got used to the slow uptake on things lol! When I fist got pregnant we tested really early (Bad girl) and had the faintest of faintest of lines so I was eased into pregnancy that way. With labour I would be much happier with the "could it be?" situation to start with rather than "Oh holy $%&* I am in labour -HHHEEELLLLLPPPPP"
