Where did you guys buy the pram? Did you just order online or find any good shops where you can see the selection for yourself? I'd love to go and see the different types as I've NO IDEA what I'm doing but in my local area there's just Mothercare. Any good shops for prams in B'ham, Reading, Oxford, London area?

thank you again
xx

I've just bought one from an independent local shop. The deal was as good (if not better) that I'd found on the internet and if I have a problem with it, I can just take it to them rather than trying to go to the manufacturer. And they have a spare pram/buggy in case the purchased one needs to go off for a repair or something. So definitely worth having a look around locally too!

Local independent shop. Very helpful and good service. John Lewis have pram departments too if you haven't got a good independent near you.

Rhia30 · 17/04/2009 13:32

Thanks Could you let me know the names of these shops, thanks?

I researched this - local pram shop was more expensive than John Lewis and I wanted an actual retailer rather than an online one in case of trouble. I went to John Lewis to try them out at a quiet time (weekday) and they were brilliant. Then I rang up and ordered and they were good again. Delivery due (of pram, not baby) next week so I can't yet vouch for that bit.
good luck

Nekabu · 17/04/2009 14:00

Sorry but the one I went to isn't near you.

EldonAve · 17/04/2009 14:08

kiddicare or mothercare or john lewis online

Sheeta · 17/04/2009 14:12

i'd second John Lewis - the independant shops do tend to be more expensive (though you might be able to haggle with them)

Saying that there is the Oxford Pram Centre though, which is quite good.

no idea about prices there though.

EldonAve · 17/04/2009 14:31

ox pram centre are also good - got my P&T there

MollieO · 17/04/2009 14:40

I used Necessities in Maidenhead and they were very helpful (and cheaper) than John Lewis.

MollieO · 17/04/2009 14:40

That should be Bear Necessities!

MollieO · 17/04/2009 14:41

no good at links today try this

tigerbump · 17/04/2009 14:47

kiddicare and mothercare (both as some items cheaper at kiddicare and others at mothercare)

babyOcho · 17/04/2009 14:52

babyboom 2000 in Ruislip.

We got our car seat for free (we got a Bugaboo Cam) and they deliver. Although they are a local shop for us so we collected.

Simplysally · 17/04/2009 15:03

I bought my pram in Mothercare World after lots of trailing around research in virtually every baby equipment shop in the SE. Be warned though, Mothercare only guarantee their products for six months. If it busts after that, you're on your own.

Kiddiecare. Mothercare is overpriced IMO.

Oxford pram centre is also very good.

FlirtyThirty · 17/04/2009 16:47

Researched at John Lewis and some local independents but JL couldn't order the colour I wanted and independents were just too expensive.

Boughts from Kiddicare - excellent service and fast!

jellybeans · 17/04/2009 16:52

kiddicare

Nekabu · 17/04/2009 17:19

The independent I bought from had a better deal than JL! Was well impressed!

no1childminder · 17/04/2009 17:22

im a childminder and bought one from Kiddiecare online. they have a 50% off sale at mo, not definate its on prams tho. when i looked they had brilliant travel systems etc for cheap oh and also preciouslittleone.com

lynniep · 17/04/2009 17:24

I got my first one from kiddicare - although its local to me and they have a lot on display so it was easy to see what we were getting. Still happy to buy online from them though - they've pretty efficient.

Baisey · 17/04/2009 21:19

Mothercare all the way.

Qally · 18/04/2009 06:09

Lullaby's. They are a real world shop as well as online, offer great deals, and amazing post-sales service.

DO NOT go with Bambino Direct or Two Left Feet. They are that cheap because they are shite. In fact, I'd run a search on MN (or hell, the web) on any company you consider, as loads are verging on being crooks. And I'd always, always use a credit card at the moment, because if Woollies and MFI can go splat, anyone can, and without using a credit card you've zilch protection for your cash.
