Hi,

I am 5ft 2in and a pregnant plus size. I seem to be able to find loads of maternity clothes size 20+ but none for a shorter person anybody got any ideas.

Thanks

PS I cannot sew and although I can wonderweb quite successfully it often ruins the bottom of the items cut!

hi, I'm fat but not awfully short - 5ft5 - I do find the legs on most stuff too long so have to do dodgy turn-ups! also at this time of year there are quite a lot of cropped trousers around which on my shorty legs look fairly normal length . I've just got some nice cheap maternity tops from simply be - they are quite long but I find that comforting as I don't like showing off my belly. In the past I have ordered some really nice fitting stuff - jeans and shorts and stuff from Motherhood Maternity in the US. Shipping is quite high but it's nice to have a real choice. What kind of places have you been looking? I find getting plus size maternity a real pain.

I bought a couple of items meant to be worn short that were long on me - e.g. knee length skirts, 3/4 length trousers. Also handy are charity shops selling summer dresses of the type that have a tie on them to cinch in the waist. I've found that if I simply don't tie them up, I can usually wear my normal size or one up from that - being larger is a help for this; I'm a 16/18, and I've got loads of cheapo dresses that way (no good for antenatal days though!)

I've had to turn some mat. trousers up by 20cm - who are all these giant women?

I can soooooo sympathise....I saw the post title and wondered for a second if I'd written it and forgotten about it!

5'4 and a size 22-24. 21 weeks now, have gained about 7 pounds, and haven't really changed shape (but finding things that are tight around the abdomen much more annoying than before). I'm living in stretchy stuff and a pair of jeans I got while in the U.S. They're not maternity, just a size bigger than I normally wear.

I've stopped looking TBH. It's so depressing, I'll probably just be hanging around in my dressing gown for the last few months.

Will watch this thread with interest for ideas.

ooh, just had a brain fart....Evans does have a petite plus range. Been ages since I looked at them, but maybe we'd find something there?

Hi,

It is so good to realise I am not the only one in this boat - I too have been buying from Evans just a couple of sizes bigger. Thanks for the support and advice ladies.

Like Yankbeforethecockcrows at 20 weeks I had put on very little weight and had only had a thickening of the waist - which as my waist was 1 1/2 sizes smaller than my hips meant I could just use my normal clothes, but watch out I am now 26 weeks and have a big bump - it is odd how much difference 6 weeks makes!!!

Dorothy perkins are the answer - take it from a short fat woman lol!! I am around 5'3/ 5'4 but fit in the standard length (they also do a short fit) and in their maternity trousers I fit in a size smaller than I was before I got preggers (and even those look a little large) still no problems and I am a HUGE 37 weeker. I do get bored of wearing black trousers everyday. I miss skirts but now my ankles are too swollen for me to want to show em off any more - boooo they were the only thin part of me!

TigOeufFeet · 14/04/2009 12:46

I'm a size 20/22, not that short but I do have short legs. Mothercare do a size 20 with a short leg for trousers, these fit me fine atm, if anything they're a bit loose. It might be worth giving them a try? I also have a couple of pairs of Next size 20 maternity trousers that are actually too big, although they are an inch or two long in the leg. Are your legs supposed to get longer when you're pregnant

Sorry don't have any new ideas just wanted to sympathise, being short sucks!

I have like one pair of trousers and can't wait to finish work so that I can just officially live in my pyjamas! xx
