Lack of movements - 35weeks.. advice?

I am 35-36 weeks, baby is breech, last night there was LOADS of really large movements & shifting around that lasted for hours - 9:30 - 3am ish, they kept me awake & even made me feel sick, I never knew my stomach could stretch into such weird shapes! I assumed baby was maybe trying to move himself head down..
I finally fell asleep around 3-4am, woke up at 9, I've been out with dh and ds to do the shopping, and it was only on the way home before I realised I haven't really felt the baby move since I've been up.
I've tried to call the community midwives but got their answering machine.
Any advice on what to do really, I guess he could be sleeping, but this does seem like a long length of time to not have him squirming around. (Oh, and he still feels like he's breech, not that that's relevant I guess).

Sorry for the rambly post

Bump

Have you got a phone number for the hospital assessment unit or midwives team there, rather than the community team? My blue notes have got a few depts in the hospital to call if you're concerned. If not, can you just go along to the hospital so that they can just check that all is well.

I would call the triage or assement unit at your local hospital, they'll probably want you to come in straight away and then they'll do a heart trace on the baby to check all is well. It could just be he has moved, but it's better to be safe. I'm up there all the time with my baby who frequently stops moving (also 36 weeks), and they're really lovely. HTH

Call the midwife number again. If no answer then call the labour ward number if you have to.

They will prob ask you to go in just as a precaution for monitoring.

I didnt feel movement (cannot remember how many weeks I was), and it was overnight. When I finally called the 9-5pm number the next day I was distraught and they told me I could always call the labour ward if I was worried.

DD was fine, no probs - it's fine to be cautious.

I went in for monitoring at 31 weeks, for an hour. My dd was also breech. They monitored kicks that I couldn't feel at all. It was all fine.

Drink very cold water. That should wake them up. And maybe have something sugary.

Don't worry. ds would nap for hours in there, especially if he had been so wriggly.

Honestly it sounds as if your baby has had a run around and is now having a nap.

MW once said to me that as long as you can feel 12 movements a day you're fine.

Go get the ice cubes!

You can go to the labour ward right away for CTG monitoring. Call them first to check - they are doing CTGs on babies of this gestation all the time.

Hi, thanks ladies.
I had a cold sugary drink & jumped up and down, he still didn't move so called the labour ward & went in for monitoring. He eventually woke up, his heart rate was a bit up and down but everything is ok, like has been said on here they think he knackered himself out last night with all his movements. (He didn't manage to turn evidently, still very much breech!!)

Thanks again everyone!
