would you take that as a slip up or that this is what all sonographers say????

If you didn't want to know then she probably didn't look. When I was a student m/w I accompanied some women to scans and if at the end of the scan the woman asked about the gender the sonographer would have to have another look. I kind of got the impression they don't focus on that area unless asked to. They have a list of things they have to check, heart, spine, limbs, head, face, other things, but don't think genitalia is on the list.

Stripey, yes that's exactly waht I was wondering yesterday, with our DD we asked at the end if she saw the sex because we wanted to know and she had to then have a look for it.

"by 34 weeks you will actually see less"

Well, I saw a lovely clear shot of a penis and testicles at a late growth scan with DS2 Absolutely bloody obvious and I'd got to 37 weeks without finding out!!

I would imagine most sonographers are too well trained to slip up and it is very common to routinely call the baby "he".

It may have been a slip, it may not. You have absolutely no idea so it'll still be a surprise when the baby is born.

Well there's no accounting for exhibitionist babies I suppose, SoupDreggon

Sadly he's 8 now and would still happily get it out at the drop of a hat

We didn't want to know but sonographer said "she's being lazy today" at one point. I was a bit disappointed as I really wanted a boy but DP didn't hear and said he wasn't sure he wanted to know. We asked her to write down the sex of the baby and put it in an envelope in case we changed our minds and wanted to know.

Few months later out came DS! We opened the envelope and it did say "It's a boy!" I think it's influenced by what children they have themselves ( I do the same with cats - they are all he to me!) I wouldn't pay much attention to it TBH.
