Mosquito bite relief and pregnancy

I am currently covered in about 20 mosquito bites and am in itching heaven. What can I use to ease the itching and swelling- each bite is now the size of a 10p, as you can see I react badly!
At the moment I am using Sudocreme which only works psychologically !

Anthistan (not sure about spelling) is pretty good and not contraindicated

By the way, I've been reading up on mozzie repellent during pregnancy and it appears that standard insect repellant (even the DEET based ones) pose no significant risk during pregnancy.

Like you, I react really badly to bites and normally end up taking antihistamines (which obviously I can't do a the mo), so I figure it's the less of two evils.

Can you get one of those "zapper" things? Completely chemical free, and I'm sure the very small current that goes in the bite isn't enough to get to the baby (although please do check...)

Just avoid anything with deet (in terms of repellants) and make sure anything you use is topical (applied on the skin). Anthisan is great stuff.

You can take (I believe anyway) Piriton and Benadryl during pregnancy with no ill effects.

Simply Beautiful arnica gel is really soothing and I'm sure it's fine since it's natural. I had Prickly Heat while pregnant and this is the only thing that helpes the itch and also cleared up the rash quickly too. You may have to search online for it. I bought mine at Salon Services so if there's a branch near you you could try there. I think (I'm ashamed to admit knowing this) that QVC sell it too!

I bought a zapper in a moment of foolishness and desperation. They do stop the itch, but only for what feels like a millisecond, then back to the itching.

If you have a lot of bites, you'd be there all day trying to zap them all.
