terrible terrible snoring...

Up until recently this has been a bit of a joke (snored badly with ds, started again with this pg), but it's not funny any longer - I keep waking myself up with a start by snoring, and I don't think it's just the noise, it's more like I can't breathe.
I'm 36 weeks, and am hoping it'll go quickly once this baby is here (did last time), but in the meantime, does anyone have any magic tips? I'm getting really exhausted with all the broken sleep, and it's becoming impossible to share a room with DH!

has nobody else ever suffered from this? I can't be the only one, surely!

me, 2jam. i am only 18 weeks and the last week has been awful. dh is fed up too. i have tried those nose strips but they only help a bit. i also use a saline nose spray which helps a little, more in keeping my nose less dry.
it's awful, isnt it? i also wake with a sore thraot cos of the snoring!

not only you, me too when i was at 30 weeks

I have this! I wonder if the position of the baby affects things. I am sure my baby has moved (I am 30 weeks) and I have been snoring less in the last week or so.

Aside from sleeping upright (which I can never manage to do) I don't have any tips sorry.

well, it's good to know that I'm not a total freak and that others suffer from this too! though where is our magic bullet? It's sorely needed!
sleeping upright - I did try a second pillow a couple of nights ago but then realised I had no chance of going to sleep with it, and I was better sleeping and waking than not sleeping at all.
Olivo - I might try the saline spray. I wake up with the remains of nosebleeds (nice!) if I've had a really bad night, so my poor nose is clearly suffering...

i had this really badly in my last pregnancy. The only thing I found that made any difference were the nose strips for me (helped a tiny bit) and earplugs for DH. My friend who snores recommended getting one of those memory pillows as that helped him for some reason.

its awful

2jamsandwiches · 01/04/2009 10:02

ok will try nose strips as well! I don't think I can bear a memory pillow, I usually have the thinnest one I can find, I hate having my head propped up! though who knows, i may yet be driven to it...

I've suffered from pregnancy rhinitis since the begining. Some of the doctors havent heard of it. Its due to the swelling in your tubes caused by pressure and hormones. I've been snorting a mixture of nasal sprays. You can get perfectly safe steroid sprays suitable for pregnant ladies.

Life without these sprays is impossible as many a time I have been so blocked I was scared and just couldnt breath.

Nose bleeds are common with them but I can put up with this. Raising pillows no good as cant sleep as far to up-right.

Its annoying that this problem isnt talked about, most doctors look at you silly!!!

Sign me up to the snoring bandwagon. I knew I'd been sleeping really deeply, like falling in a pit, recently, but last night DH woke me up to beg me to stop
I think I'd better get some more pillows.
