Down's syndrome Risk

Worried about Down's Syndrome. I was given a risk of 1:95, but this was mainly based on the blood test. The nuchal fluid at the back of the neck measured 2mm in one scan and 1.8mm in another so is fine. But I went for a CVS yesterday where they did more scans and it turns out my baby has a reverse flow Ductus Venosus and they couldn't see the nasal bone.

I'm beginning to feel there is little hope of having a normal baby as the odds seem to be stacking up against us. We should have the results of the CVS in a few days but in the mean time I can't stop worrying and crying seems to have become a major past time!!

Has anyone else gone through anything similar that can give me some reassurance?

Fantastic!
I went through it too and the relief is incredible. Hope the rest of your pregnancy is all good now.

I had my 1st Trimester screening and the result came as high risk for DS 1 of 35, my readings were
NT : 1.8 MM
beta HCG : 5 MoM
Pappa : 1.48 MoM
Nasal Bone : Present

I am so worried and scared to do the amnio.
anyone with such high beta hcg had got the amnio normal. I am 39 years old.

Hello there
there is a new area in pregnancy now that you may or may not wish to look at. Ante natal choices and testing - different threads will give you info on different options.
Re your particular set of results - if you wish to talk about the risk of Downs I am happy to share my experience with you as have had two downs pregnancies. So have learnt alot along the way. But there are also plenty of people who choose not to have amnios so look at all sides.
The presence of nasal bone is very very good news, and you nuchal level sounds normal to me- I am not an expert but they do not worry til over 2.
The blood results will be the thing that has made your risk shoot up but there are thousands of women and many many posts on here from women who have had 'funny bloods' and have had a healthy baby.
The vast majority of babies with DS are diagnosed in women who have had a 1 in 10 or higher result - I have read.
There is a very useful thread in ante natal choices from women who have given birth to a baby with downs and can give you lots of positive advice.
good luck and I hope all turns out well for you

So pleased for you! am in a similar situation myself got told i was high risk at 1:135 although so confused because apparently going by my scan the risk is 1 in 7000 all the risk seems to be coming from my bloods??? they didn't mention the nasal bone at all either, in my gut i feel that this baby is fine but i can't stand not knowing so have decided to have an amnio to find out which i can't have till i'm 16 weeks so i have to have this on my mind constantly till then.

Hello everyone. I just want it to share my story and i hope every pregnant woman should feel better....
We were given after the blood test 1:13 risk for down syndrome. fetus didnt have a nasal bone at 12 weeks. We dot told to go for amnio. we opted out. No point if the risk was 1:100 abortion. every single second until my son was born i was crying. In the end he was a healthy boy and 4 kg.
p.s My view is that everything is becoming bussines. Amnio, triple test, qaurdruple test.
