I presume this is a bad idea at 7 weeks or so?

I had arranged to start going to one of these classes with my friend and am running out of excuses for not going! Thankfully up until now it has been her that has made most of the excuses.

Wanting keep quiet about the real reason for not wanting to go at the moment so is quite hard!

I asked my midwife about exercise last time I saw her, and she told me to stick to gentle, low impact exercises that don't make my heart race or make me lose my breath.

Find another less strenuous class and invite her along to that? Or suggest that you both go to the gym/swimming when you have the chance instead of arranging to go to this class and then cancelling..?

I think that probably if you had been going for the past year it would be fine. Not sure about how sensible it would be to start it now though.

Thanks guys. We had started arranging to go to this class before Christmas and have never quite made it!!

Its a bit of a standing joke now so that might be a saving grace.

Looking at a lower impact class is a good idea. Thank you.

You really weren't that dedicated to having a flat stomach anyway were you?

No!

Just as well really, god willing!

I was told to avoid new exercises or any abdominal workouts for the first trimester- I had to stop my yoga class. At 14 weeks though I could start a new antenatal yoga class. You should ask to speak to the class instructor before signing up to seek their advice- they need to know you're pregnant as it affects your ligaments so you can be more prone to injury.

To be honest I mainly stuck to walking, swimming and cycling- all low impact and can take it as gently as needed.
