Hi Lameez

Pregnancy hormones are funny things. Many people start seeing a drop off of symptoms like morning sickness at about 9 weeks, equally there are many who suffer them all the way through.

If you're worried speak to your GP. Many EPU's don't readily arrange reassurance scans but it's easy to get a private scan (money matters notwithstanding).

Lameez · 26/03/2009 09:11

I had a bit of spotting when i was 4 weeks, so they sent me for a scan, all was well as there was a little hurt beat and everything, i was so excited. Its realy hard not knowing if your little on is alive in there?

This is the first Pregnancy

I only had the mildest of symptoms (occasional slight queasiness) but they did disappear around nine weeks just like you say so don't worry. I know lots of other people who's symptoms tailed off around then as well. Your body is just getting accustomed to higher hormone levels.

Have you had a scan? I paid for an extra one at 10 weeks because I just had no symptoms at all and was losing faith that there was anything in there. The scan showed all OK.

Good luck!

lizlemon · 26/03/2009 09:21

My symptoms (and there weren't very many) eased at around 10 weeks, but I'm still tired In fact i was so symptomless I was heard to exclaim 'it's an actual baby' at my scan. You could also try looking on the ante-natal thread for the month you are due.

lal123 · 26/03/2009 09:22

Lameez - try not to worry- symptoms are funny things!

Do you have a history of mc? Its unusual to have a scan so early - and very unusual to see a heartbeat so early - are you sure your dates are right?

tattifer · 26/03/2009 09:29

lal was thinking the same thing.

lameez are you talking about 4 weeks past conception or from the first date of your last period?

Lameez · 26/03/2009 09:37

Iv had a MC once before, but at the time i did not even know i was expecting. it was all a shock to me...

I am still a bit confussed about my dates to be quiet honest, my GP advised my ED should be the 31st of October.

Im going to try and take things easy from now and just relax

Thank you everyone for your advice it realy helps to be reassured

I know how it feels to be confused about dates! I'm going with what my scan at about 8 weeks told me - EDD of around 25th Oct, so I'm guessing I'm about 9 and a half weeks.

I was worried that my symptoms were going too - and got the same response from EPU. Although they did say that if syptoms didn't return they would arrange for a scan. If you are still worried give them another call

Thank you Lal ... we around the same time then? we that is if my scan was right

I think the first day of my last period was the 24th of Jan, i was abroad and distressed about some other issues. But if i can remeber correctly the 24th was my last day

I would have had sex on my return which was probably on the 27th or 28th

And my Cycle is usualy 4 - 5 days....

I heard the heartbeat for the first time at 6 weeks!

You have to have a transvaginal scan, but boy was it worth it. That's when it starts beating, and if you hear it your chances of miscarriage drop to between 5 and 10%. Not long after that an abdominal scan might pick up the heartbeat, if done by someone experienced.

I asked my doctor if she would kindly make a window in my tummy so I could watch it all the time . Even now at 18 weeks, if I don't feel that fish-flipping feeling I start worrying and bothering the doctor.

lameez sorry love, just trying to help out with the dating. Are you sure that your "period" which ended on 24th wasn't a break through or possibly implantation bleed? Only asking because sex a considerable time before one ovulates wouldn't normally end in pregnancy (although as we all know, nothing is written in stone!)

katendmom · 26/03/2009 12:46

I too lost my pregnancy symptoms at around 6 weeks... Just to get them all back full swing in a couple of days. Oh I have been so sick ever since (11 weeks now). Like others said - hormones play lots of tricks on you, especially early on in your pregnancy but if you're still nervous, give a call to your doctor and make them put your mind at ease. It is their job! Good luck
