Bleeding heavily at 12 weeks - what do i do?

I am around 12 weeks pg and have been bleeding very lightly (bit of blood when I wipe) for nearly 3 weeks. I had a scan at 9 weeks for reassurance and the baby was fine with a strong heartbeat. The bleeding slowed last weekend and I thought all was well.

However yesterday the bleeding became more intense and is now more like a light period (pink to red blood is appearing on my panty liner which I have to change every 3 hours or so). This has continued today. Is there anything I should be doing? I have my 12 week scan on Thursday so I really want to wait til then to find out for sure.

Is there any hope? And there's no way of stopping a miscarriage is there?

Doggus, a virtual hug to you, hon! Doctors are stupid! How can they just say stupid thing like that and send you home? Inhumane! Well, I just called my doctor and re-told your situation. She said that if you heard the heart beat (even early on), the chances of m/s is only 5%

Good luck with your scan! Sending you lots of baby sticky dust*

Hi doggus. There is still hope, especially as you have seen a heartbeat at 9 weeks.

Bleeding during pregnancy really can come from a variety of sources.

Good luck for today, I know it must be hard for you to feel positive x

Bad news I am afraid - I had a miscarriage last night at home so didn't even make the scan. It was hideous but I am trying to comfort my self with the fact that I have a healthy ds, and will try again one day.

I think I am going to pop over to the miscarriage section and find some comfort there.

Thank you all SO much for your kind words, you mumsnetters are lovely xx

oh Doggus,

I didn't post but was watching your thread. I feel for you, have been there 3 times, it's not nice. Take time to be gentle on yourself, and mourn the loss of your precious baby.

xx

Doggus, I'm so sorry to hear your news. I hope you can get some time and space to rest - time just for you. I'm sure your ds will be a great comfort. I'm going through a thing with abnormal pg bloods at the moment and I don't know what I'd do if dd wasn't around to keep me busy and make me laugh. Good luck to you and do take care. I'm sure you'll find some comfort on the miscarriage threads. It's so very common and you are very far from being alone.

xx
