I am 31 weeks pregnant just looking into washable nappies, I was thinking about purchasing either the pop in or Bum Genius. Any advice to which is best dont want to make a wrong choice.

Bumgenius are great. Easy to use, one-size from birth to pottty, and very reliable.

Why not get one of each and try them once your baby is born? That way you'll find out which suits your baby and you best and won't waste money on nappies that don't fit the shape of your baby iyswim.

Yeah I thought about buying one of each and waiting until the baby is born, but im just so excited want to get every thing now!...

There is tonnes of advice about all things nappy in the "parenting" section...it's mind boggling and very very helpful!!

Joanne, I have DD1 3.3, DD2 19mo, and am 35+4 with DC3.

I did a lot of reading, and took the plunge with Bumgenious Nappies. I bought them from Nappyzone (a poster on here who has a website). They arrived last week and I am so glad I chose them.

DD1 loves them and likes to choose what colour DD2 wears. She even had one instead of her pull-ups for a couple of nights, and they did great.

DD2 is wearing them exclusively now, and I have only had one substantial leak, because I forgot to change it before I went out unexpectedly and my Mum put her down for a nap, not knowing it hadn't been changed. It had been on for 8 hours so can't be blamed for leaking! She wasn't sore in the slightest, though.

They are so easy to use. Just stuff them, put them on like a disposable, and then put them in a dry nappy bucket when they are used, closing the laundry tabs and separating the liner from the wrap.

DD2 does disgusting poos, and the nappies have come out brilliantly white following the instructions.

I bought a 14 Litre bucket with lid from my local hardware store, costing £5.45, and two nylon lingerie protector bags at £1.45 each to make my nappy bin. It is fab. When it is full, I chuck the net bag into the machine, rinse, then 60 degree wash with 40mls of Persil. Line dry, or tumble cool. Having said that, flamesparrow says that it won't do much good to tumble the outers.

if you go to www.thenappylady.co.uk you fill out a questionnaire and then an advisor emails you back v.quickly with recommendations. I have found the service fantastic. Its free until you buy the nappies of course, but there is no commitment to buy. Theres loads of info and advice available on the website too. HTH
