Remind me why I can't have mousse?

This is tesco chocolate mousse and I'm sure anything harmful will have been processed out of it! Is it just the raw egg thing? This doesn't seem to contain egg
(I'm sure you're all salivating!)

I think it's the raw egg. But I do wonder if supermarket mousses actually have raw egg. I always intended to contact tesco to check, but never did.

I don't think it's because of the egg...is it becuase of the risk of literia?

StealthPolarBear · 17/03/2009 20:56

ingredients don't mention it. And I think if it needs translating it's fairly safe to say it won't be raw egg any more!
Plus they're use by the 9th April...nothing containing raw egg could do that, surely!
Thanks

'tis the egg, so only need worry about homemade/restaurant-made mousse.

Enjoy!

thought you meant hair mousse. (village idiot emoticon)

StealthPolarBear · 17/03/2009 20:59

Think I will risk it, thanks everyone

BTW just found this recipe
"What makes this chocolate mousse most unique is its use of tofu and avocado instead of whip cream and eggs. Experimenting with different ingredients is fun and sometimes surprisingly delicious. You?ll probably have to try this one to believe it!"

Yum yum

That actually wasn't very nice. Tasted a bit peppery
Will have another one to make sure
Well that's what you get for buying cheap mousse

I'm sure you're fine - I think it's proper fresh mousses that are made with raw egg, the pasteurised cheap stuff is fine I have it on good (?) authority that the Asda smart price choc mousses taste OK (well, so says my 15 year old who normally turns her nose up at non-branded food) so I'm sure they'd be fine if pg as there can't be anything remotely fresh about them

You can eat Moussee from the supermarket, you can have anythign with pasteurised egg in it, i spent my first pregnancy avoiding mayonnaise, until i realised i could have helmans, just not homemade. you enjoy your mousse.
