Due on Monday and have less baby movement or am I paranoid?

I'm due on Monday, finally, it feels like i've been pregnant forever. My bump still feels quite high but also the little man seems to be much quieter, just the odd wriggle over the past 24 hours, don't have many other symptoms to talk about so am guessing nothing is happening and I'm going to go way over.... Not sure what my question is, just thought something might have happened by now in terms of this pre labour phase....even my regular braxton hicks seemed to have slowed down! I feel like I'm going backwards....

A change in movements - to less or more - needs checking.

me23 · 14/03/2009 19:02

you should always phone midwife/labour ward if there is a reduction in fetal movements. It will most probably fine but best to make sure.

ScorpiowithabigS · 14/03/2009 19:03

you need to get someone to check you over

brettgirl2 · 14/03/2009 19:04

If you are worried then you must get it checked out. It is definitely normal though for babies to slow down right at the end due to lack of space.

Nabster · 14/03/2009 19:11

brettgirl - that is wrong and plain dangerous to say ime.

brettgirl2 · 14/03/2009 19:14

Well it's what we were told by an experienced midwife in an antenatal class. I have told the OP that she should get it checked out, but just offered her some reassurance of a possible explanation.

LittleBok · 14/03/2009 19:24

I think if I don't feel more by say 9pm I will phone, like you all say, better to be safe than sorry after all this time. I know they don't move as much but he just seems very quiet in there... Thank you for so many quick responses, it is always good to hear other opinions. Maybe a bath will get him wriggling around!

Maybe so, and I was checked and sent home by an experienced midwife and nearly lost my baby.

Bakersman · 14/03/2009 19:47

Personally I would eat something sugary and lie quietly to get him moving - if it didn't help I'd get myself checked.
Let us know how you get on

Miamla · 14/03/2009 23:00

LittleBok, how are you getting on?

Hangingbellyofbabylon · 14/03/2009 23:10

don't risk it, like Nabster I nearly lost my little girl but luckily was saved by a fantastic midwife who did recognise that reduced fetal movement must be taken seriously. They are happy to check you out and reassure you. Good luck. xxx

Just got back from hospital, they agreed it was the right thing to do to go in with just two days to go until my due date, baby was fine and seemed happy as larry, just decided to have a long rest..... until the midwife had a very good prod and then he woke up! Thanks again for all your help, sorry if first time mum was a bit paranoid, but the next week or so can't go quick enough now!! x

I am so pleased everything is okay.

Keep an eye and go in as often as necessary.
