I know with this being my third pregnancy i should be less flustered by some things, but about 2 weeks ago i started to feel my babys first movements, which of course is fantastic, but the last day or 2 he/she has bee really quiet and hasnt moving really at all! i have even given baby a prod or two and i still havent felt much, im trying not to worry as im only 17+5 but i cant help it, i cant see my midwife either as she isnt there until thursday! i just wandered if anyone had any ideas as to how i could get baby to give me a reassurig kick? im sure i just need to stop stressing about it, i just seem to worry about EVERYTHING this time round!!!

why dont u try drinking a large glass of ice cold water. thats what the midwife did when i couldnt feel bumps move it seemed to waken her up

Have you tried the obvious sitting still for an hour? could be baby is just asleep during day!

beansprout · 18/04/2005 09:43

It's horrible isn't it? Would second the water/sitting still suggestions. Please call your midwife if you want to though. It's what they are there for.

on sat when i was in hosp they had to monitor bumps and was on it for 2 hours cos she wouldnt stay at peace and they couldnt get a base reading cos she wouldnt stay still lol

AH I would contact mmw or your local maternity hosp and just explain your worry they will be really helpful and it will just help put your mind at rest!!

I fyou are really worried, go to the local hosp, or as at your docs to see another local midwife.
I had a similar experience with my first pregnancy, it turned out that it was baby's positioning that as to blame, he was facing my spine, and the movements he was making weren't strong enough to be felt through my back( I was approx 14-15wks pg). I did ask to see my midwife, she came to see me the next day luckily.
It's only normal to be's your baby!

hamster that happened to me - dd usually kicked at about 10am and by 5.30pm I had felt nothing - phoned mat hosp and they told me just to come straight up - when they scanned me dd was facing the other way and kicking to the back so I couldnt feel it but just having an explination was such a releif!!
