Why are people on the Tube so ignorant.........

I don't expect I'm the only one who thinks this, but why are Tube users such fu**ers?!!

This morning, I had to stand up for 25 minutes on the central line despite the fact that I am clearly very pregnant. Usually I head straight for the priority seat and ask if I can sit down but I couldn't get to it this morning as it was so busy. When the carriage emptied out, not one person offered me a seat - male or female.

Surely I can't be the only pregnant woman to suffer this and even wearing a Baby on Board badge doesn't seem to make an iota of difference!

I have a real problem with my hip (although not visible when I'm sitting down - only when I walk as I limp) and can't stand up for long. Once on the tube had got myself a seat and a pregnant lady with a friend got on at the next stop. I glanced at them but didn't offer my seat as I needed it as well. Once they had seen that I had noticed them, they had a very loud and pointed discussion with each other about how terribly rude it was when people noticed that she was pregnant but still don't offer their seat. The only effect it had is it made me feel embarrassed but I wasn't shamed into offering my seat as I needed it too.

If they had asked me I would have politely explained and they didn't ask anyone else. I think in these situations it's always best to ask, as you never know if other people have problems as well and the pointed conversation/glaring approach also means people can pass it off as someone elses problem.

If they don't give you a seat when you ask just because they don't want to then they are indeed horrible and deserve you standing hard on their foot.

I got offered a seat on the tube for the first time the other day - the lady was herself about 6 months pregnant (I'm only 4) but was offering to hoik her sleepy three year old off his seat to allow me to sit.

I wonder who Verity's abuser thought would be paying her pension if women didn't 'exercise their fertility' . I would have cried at that for sure.

I am so sorry to hear some of these experiences - and I work for LU!
Having experienced peoples lack of courtesy and good manners on a day to day basis for my job, and when I was pregnant having to stand the entire 40 min journey home because the Evening Standard suddenly became really interesting - I would do what others recommend - ask!
The 'Baby on Board' badges were produced for a reason - we know that sometimes hints are needed because other passengers may not realise that a woman is pregnant and may not want to possibly offend - or they may just need a bit of a kick up the backside to be a bit more courteous.
