early pg, just found out and in the middle of painting our woodwork - I really want to finish it, I have over half left to do and I have not even started the walls!

If I wear a mask can I continue (eggshell) or am I going to have to wait for another 18 months get DH to do it?

NO.

Dh will have to do it or no sex dinner or clean shirts.

Check the label on the paint. Some is low fume and fine. Other's are not!

Nabster · 10/03/2009 18:47

Didn't mean to shout!

pavlovthecat · 10/03/2009 18:48

Tee - no, this is definitely not low fume .

Nabster - DH is currently a house husband, so he does much of the washing anyway, and he always cooks, so it will have to be no sex something else

If it's low-odour water-based paint, then you should be fine with plenty of open windows. Otherwise best not. Or at least leave it until the 3rd trimester if you must do it.

Don't under any circumstances think you'll be picking up the brush and finishing it off in 10 months! You'll be somewhat distracted (not to mention utterly knackered) by then .

I did huge amount of egg shell painting when in early preg (about 8 to 12wks). It had to be done so I did it (DH was painting too)

THink its ok, keep windows open etc and have lots of breaks. Smell made me feel a bit sick though if I remember.

Will advise once baby is born if there were any ill effects!

pavlovthecat · 10/03/2009 18:51

Pretty - yes, DD is 2.7 and I have only just been able to start doing it since we moved in when pg the first time!! Aw shite, shite, shite. DH is crap at hates painting. And he also dislikes me delegating .

I should be fine with the walls, as that is likely to be water based, its the paint that is eggshell to cope with toddlers!

What are the risks anyway? BIL is coming over from US in May and I really wanted the place to look all spangly...

Get BIl to do it!

pavlovthecat · 10/03/2009 18:59

LOL er, no! He would be worse at it than DH!

Congrats!

Walls should be fine. You are unlikely to be overcome with emulsion. [girn]

Are you stripping paint too? if its old gloss then could contain lead.

pavlovthecat · 10/03/2009 20:44

Sunflower - no stripping - thats much too like hard work!
