I don't have to worry about looking fat - I am going to look fat anyway!

elliott · 09/04/2003 13:12

errrr....I think we've exhausted the joys of pregnancy already!!

What about the annoying aspects like having to go to the loo almost as soon as a drop of liquid passes your lips and having to wear really unattrative underwear?!!!

Hey - stop hijacking this thread with negatives! Think we need another thread - my money is on the new thread being longer...

Shopping for baby stuff. Decorating the nursery. Finally making sure the house is really tidy, where you prevously felt unmotivated. Seeing the scan pictures. Watching big healthy limbs squirming and jutting around your tummy.

Grim stuff; urine samples, blood tests and worries about labour and showing the world your bits.

Wondering what sex the little alien in your tummy is..and what you'll call it.

Flippa · 09/04/2003 13:28

I think you are right, edgarcat, the immediate post-natal bit is the worst. I loved having radiant skin and really thick shiny hair when pregnant. Also loved the camaraderie between pregnant women and the fact you make new friends. Also the best bit is going on maternity leave - the bit before the baby comes was great for me - lots of shopping, swimming and lazing around! Also liked getting a seat on the tube although have to say it didn't always happen, even when I was 35 weeks plus and obviously preggers!

Dreaming about what ds/dd would look like.

Sitting in meetings at work and NEVER getting bored coz I could always feel my bump and get healthy kicks to wake me up..... cannae beat it!

losing a stone (see why I hate for explanation)
an easy labour (rather do that again than the pregancy ANY DAY!)

mum2toby · 09/04/2003 13:42

Come on folks!!!! There must be more of you out there that loved being pregnant!!!!!!!!!!

I was lucky - no stretch marks, no varicose veins, no piles, no morning sickness and although DS was 8lbs 13 with a large head, had a straightforward delivery with no stitches. (So now you probably all hate me!)
All the flowers, pressies and cards you get are great of course!
Am now lighter than before I was pregnant...

Philippat · 09/04/2003 13:51

Being able to wear tight tops stretched over my tummy for once in my life

mum2toby · 09/04/2003 13:52

Steady on Flippa.... Wow!!! I think I would have 3 by now if it'd been that good!!

I truly did have a very positive experience of pregnancy and childbirth and I think its important for me to let others know as too often all you hear are the horror stories, ie when things don't go according to plan or where things go wrong. I have friends who have been through pretty grim experiences so I count myself lucky but know that its important to keep ones feet on the ground for subsequent pregnancies as no two experiences are the same.
I loved my epidural by the way!!!

NQWWW · 09/04/2003 14:17

I love being pregnant too, despite nausea at first. Other good things: DP offering to do stuff; suddenly talking to people at work who have never even been on nodding terms with before; having an excuse to put my feet up every so often including at work; everybody's delight when you tell them; and most of all looking forward to meeting that new person that's busy developing......

mum2toby · 09/04/2003 14:37

NQWWW -

mega-broody now!

That hormonal high when your little baby's put in your arms for the first time. There is nothing like it.
So sad I'll never have it again

doormat · 09/04/2003 15:54

Balancing plate on bump whilst sledging in front of the T.V

No periods for months>yipee

mum2toby · 09/04/2003 15:56

Lil.

What about the excitement when you feel the first kick, or waiting outside the radiographers room for your first ever scan, then being told all is well.

I was even excited when I realised I was in labour! I knew that I would see my baby soon and I was so ready for it (or so I thought!!).

These are the best things that EVER happened to me before ds was born.
