i was due my AF thursday last week. didn't come. did a pregnancy test this morning, very clear positive came up straight away.

however..i had a molar pregnancy which i had d&c for back in september. first lot of test results were done december, came back borderline ok. december then came back all ok. since then i've been all fine and down to fortnightly testing.

my reading is not nil though..consultant showed me it's down to 30 ish in urine, while blood is at 1 or 2. she says this is classed as normal. my specialist in sheffield also says this is all fine and normal. do normal everyday women go round with this sort of level or would they show nil?

sooooo, would the pregnancy test show positive anyway with a 30ish level? or am i pregnant? or does it depend on the sensitivity of the test? i used first response. you molar ladies will know what i mean!!

not yet. just emailed nurse. however i think they have to write to you to tell you rather than oh yes you're pregnant or oh yes your mole is growing in an email iyswim.

ok nurse has replied. she said the sample did test positive so she has asked my consultant to write to me to see me. not sure what happens next. i guess a scan? i'm around 6 weeks now. they'll maybe do 48 hrly blood tests too to check i'm not going molar again.

nurse emailed me again. said they'll just refer me for a scan in next couple weeks. she said it's highly unlikely it would be the old mole regrowing, but of course there's the chance it's a new mole. awful really. trying not to get too 'attached' to this one yet..

best friend told me today she's 9 weeks pregnant..i told her i'm 6 weeks..not sure i should have though but it's cool, she knows my history. she was very worried about telling me. will be nice if this comes off, her ds is a month older than dd, as will these dc2s be.

Hope everything goes well for you Ruddynorah.

argh - sorry to have missed this - I hid the pregnancy topic! So if you're pregnant, you would have conceived in early Feb - am I right? I'm presuming that could be possible, and so would be about 5 months after ERPC?

iirc your levels fell very fast - I think the instances of mole regrowth towards the end of the 6 month follow-up are very very tiny indeed.

Obv, if you are pregnant it could, as you know, be another mole, but it is much much more likely that it isn't - off the top of my head I think the recurrence risk after one pm is about 2%, but would have to check that. My cons also said that they can, at about 8-9 weeks tell fairly easily if it's another mole - heartbeat means a mole is very very unlikely, and they look at the placenta etc.

Oh, I hope so much this all works out. I have everything crossed for you.

thanks habbibu! conceived ahem valentines..i think, or week after. i have a long cycle. yes levels dropped fast, first result borderline, 2nd normal. nurse said it's not the old mole but of course can be a new one. so just waiting for scan date now...

Ruddynorah, lost your thread for a minute, and couldn't remember which topic it was in!

I really hope this is good news for you. As Habbibu said the recurrence rate is pretty low. But if you are anything like I was when i found out I was pregnant after my mp, you are probably still nervous.

Is there any chance you could ring your local early pregnancy unit, explain your situation, and ask to go in for a scan? I know that was scanned pretty early with dd1, and then scanned twice before my 12 weeks scan. I just sorted it out myself, because my MW didn't know anything about mp, and I was a long way from Charing Cross (where my mp was treated).

Good luck - thinking of you.

if i haven't had a letter from my consultant by the end of this week then i will ring EPU and arrange it myself. my consultant is based at the EPU anyway.

I know somebody who had a partial molar pregnancy. She fell pregnant again just over 6 months later, had two scans pre 12 weeks and delivered a healthy baby not very long ago. I really, really hope it's the same for you - sounds like it's looking quite positive (no pun intended!)

Swaliswan · 20/03/2009 20:34

Sorry I haven't kept up, Ruddynorah, DD has had chickenpox so I've not been on MN. Anyway, did you receive your letter?

ruddynorah · 20/03/2009 20:50

no letter. left message with epu. will try again monday.
