Anybody's baby measuring big and / or low amniotic fluids?

Hi, just wondering if anybody else has been told from scans that their baby is measuring big? At my 20 week scan (actually done at 22 weeks) my baby was measuring close to the 97th centile for AC and BPD. I've had 2 growth scans since (over 30 weeks now) and both times he has still measured big although growing at a steady rate. My glucose levels have been fine throughout.

Now today I've had a growth scan but they are now more concerned that my amniotic fluid level is low. Hopefully it's just that I naturally have lower levels and not anything more serious. Have to have another scan next week and the week after and see the consultant to discuss.

Anybody with similar experience?

Hi-I was told at my 34 week scan that I had low fluids-deepest pool and AFI were both 2.3cm. They are not sure if I sprang a leak or just had low fluids (I think I leaked as had damp pants (sorry TMI) but thought it was normal so it does not sound like the same situation as you).

Since then I have been going to hospital twice a week for monitoring/consultant and scans. Baby seems to be still growing (on biggish side of normal but not excessively so) and moving (36+1 today) and fluids seem to have increased to the low levels of normal limits. I have been trying to drink lots of water etc to see if that makes a difference. They are testing my blood regularly to ensure I don't get infection due to having leaked and I have to take temp regularly. I have struggled to get much info from either the doctors or anywhere else about this situation, but have felt reassured by monitoring etc. From what I can gather it can potentially lead to induction if baby stops growing/there is an infection etc.

This probably is not much help but just wanted to reply as I struggled to find much out when I was first told I had low fluids

I was told ths during my pregnancy. Was warned to expect a baby weighing well over 10lbs - had to go for weekly growth scans from 30 weeks onwards.

When DD arrived she weighed a whopping....

.....wait for it....

....6lb 11oz

She was just long and skinny!!

Hope everything goes well for you

Happened to me too because of low fluid (although it wasn't obvious DS was big, he was (4.5kg/9lb7oz at 38ish weeks). I was monitored almost daily (sometimes twice a day) from 31 weeks. I believe the guidelines are twice a week if you're in the UK - in my case ctgs were 'suspicious' (DS's heartbeat kept dropping etc). I also had other stuff going wrong.

DS was eventually fine, fluid levels temporarily recovered then dropped again and I had him by CS after induction failed. Not clear what caused it all.

Take all the monitoring you can get. The fluid can go up again. BTW though - DS did need an osteopath/physio as he was born with a 'frozen shoulder' from not being able to bounce around in fluid (I guess) - you might want to keep an eye on your LO.

Good luck
