sore boob, bit of bleeding - any ideas?

Hi, i have a doctors appt booked but it's not until tomorrow. wondered if anyone else has had anything similar?

three times in the last week i've woken up and there has been spots of blood on the bedsheet corresponding to about where my boob would be. the first time there was a tiny bit of dried blood on my nipple so i think it's safe to assume that's where it is coming from.

my boob didn't hurt or look any different so i ignored it. then it happened again a couple of nights later and then again a couple of nights after that.

now i think my boob aches and is a bit uncomfortable but may be this is psychsomatic or something, actually i am sure it aches.

i can't feel any lumps or swellings and my nipple looks normal.

i am 23 weeks pregnant, anyone have any ideas? could it be mastitis already?

Thanks

Hi Aurora,

Am bumping this as I have the same question. I am 31 weeks pregnant and have achey, leaking breasts for about a while now. I know this is fairly normal but last night noticed a tiny bit of blood on the nipple. I had thought I saw some dried blood on the inside of a bra but chos eto ignore it - am no wondering what it could be.

Does anyone else know?

hiya, thanks for the bump, here's a little update:

i saw the doctor this morning. she had a good feel and said she was pretty sure it was just hormones etc making it ooze (sorry) a bit, which is very normal, and it was possibly a bit bloody as there had been minor trauma may be from me lying on it(which certainly seems possible as i usually sleep on that side). she was very reassuring and said not to worry BUT it is their policy to always refer any bleeding or lumps associated with breasts for further examination. i will see a specialist within the next fornight. i'm not unduly concerned but will be glad to get it checked out, so hopefully i can go back to worrying about the other 1000 things that probably won't ever happen.

perhpas it might be an idea for you to get checked out too, just for reassurance? x

Thanks Aurora, I have a GP check-up tomorrow and will mention it then! Good luck for your check-up...

I had this and was in a bit of a panic as the famously all-knowing and reliable internet () said "should always be checked out immediately". The mw on the phone said I should go to the GP. But the GP said it was probably nothing, just "physiological" and was not that interested.

Should I be a PITA and demand to have my boobs thoroughly inspected? (stamping feet and shouting "Look at my tits, dammit!")

ha ha, it wasn't any fun having my boobs looked at by my doc but each to their own (and she is a bit dowdy). i guess only you can decide if you want to take it further. i was only really concerned as the bleedy boob aches a bit too and feels a bit funny, not sure how, just not right. The Dr did stress that she was sure that it was due to the pregnancy but took it futher as that's just what they do regardless of how serious they think it is. it will be good to put my mind at rest so i'd say if you're worrying have it checked out x
