Hiya

I seem to be on here worrying non stop lately !!
Im coming up for 35 weeks pregnant & saw the consultant on Tuesday... i am due to have a growth scan at 36 weeks as im measuring larger than I am, & ds was 8lb 9 & I had a terrible birth (so they may do a c section)..
They also told me Tuesday I am 2/5ths engaged which never happened with my DS??!!! not even while in labour!
The reason I am concerned is that i feel sooooooo much pressure down below....when im driving the car, try to bend down walk etc... it feels as if the pressure is amlost too much to bear & is actually really uncomfortable?? I never had this with my ds.. could baby maybe be fully engaged now? if she is.. isent that way too early & should I be feeling such immense pressure at only 35 weeks?? Is she coming early???
(hope not as im having to go into great ormond st hospital for 2 weeks with my ds when im 37 weeks!!! TOO CLOSE to birth I know..but what can I do..he needs to go in!)

I think it sounds quite normal to me. I recall being really uncomfortable in the way you describe with my third pregnancy in particular and it wasn't because she was big either (she was the second largest of my three). Everything is a bit looser after the first time so things can bear down a lot more. I think the best thing to do is sit with your feet up as much as possible (easier said than done with a LO I know). If you are worrying about early labour, just make sure you are aware of the signs (eg the show etc). If none of these occur, then try and make yourself relax that it probably isn't happening quite yet. Best to stay calm whatever happens. I am only 32 weeks this time and whenever baby squirms it is quite uncomfortable to say the least and I have several more weeks to go! Best not to think about it...

It does sound normal to me. I would make sure to arrange alternative care for your ds when he goes into hospital though as you may well go into labour whilst he's in there. I hope it's nothing serious that he's in for.

Good luck.

erm... I had this after induction gel with ds (39 weeks, estimated to be big, came out 10lb, back to back). No contractions for 24 hours, just this awful pressure which made me want to rotate my hips.

When labour started it had this awful pressure which continued between contractions.

What i'm trying to say is, maybe your baby is back to back, or in another uncomfy position.

jkb · 28/02/2009 20:57

sounds about right.. DS was back to back!!
im only 35 weeks though.. hope shes not coming!!??!!

I recognised it as similar to those who say "it felt like there was a grapefruit between my legs".

If you're getting this urge to poo then I'd reckon it's worth ringing the labour ward. They'll say go in, I reckon. If you can bear it it might be worth being checked over. Alternatively just carry on as normal, I think it's quite rare for babies to literally just arrive at home with very little notice.

Any way, good luck

Thank u hunny..
Its not unbearable.. just uncomfortable.. & i am actually pooing too???!!
very uncomfortable ...

For me (ie mere hours before the baby did come) it was unbearable in the sense that I couldn't carry on a normal lifestyle. The pressure was an overriding presence which (in phases) influenced what I did (sit down, stand up, roll on side, rotate hips, bend over)entirely when it was present.

I can't tell you whether your baby's coming or not, merely add my experience to your pool of knowledge so you can make an informed decision about what to do.

Personally though, I'd go to bed Get a decent night's sleep, as far as late pregnancy allows, and start worrying about again it in the morning. Chances are you'll still be there. Then again, plenty of babies do come at 35 weeks without too much warning.

jkb · 28/02/2009 21:11

thank u hunny.. im going to bed in a short while... hubby is out for a drink with his friend tonight though (first one in ages & last one for months probably!!) & so im extra worried as my son is fast asleep & I would have no one to watch him IF things were to happen!

Sleep well

jkb · 01/03/2009 07:28

anyone else had this this early

I think you should ring the delivery suite, just in case.

Don't worry too much, if the baby is on its way 35 weeks is not that early - 37 weeks is considered "term". A friend of mine had one baby at 35 weeks and one at 36 - no SCUBU, no resus needed.

jkb · 01/03/2009 07:38

I wouldnt say its bad enough to call them..would feel a bit silly as I can tell its not actually labour..just wondering if its labour on the way!!?
anyway, my hubby is in bed....after getting in at 3am...kept me awake since then groaning, has been sick 4 times & is now back in bed asleep sleeping it off!!! needless to say...... im FUMING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so angrey im gonna pop.... how could he do this when im in the position im in!?
he hasent been out since Oct..but thats not the point.. he acts like a 15 yr old!!!

Seriously, never hold back from phoning because you think you might look "silly". That is in itself silly.

Go upstairs loudly, open the curtains, put on radio, turn on lights and announce "I'm going to pack my bag, I think I'm in labour". That'll get him up.

If it's any consolation my DH broke his spine cocking about on a horse when I was 39 weeks (he wasn't as seriously injured as that sounds). I was not pleased, and to be honest the hospital staff on the orthopaedic ward were all more concerned about me than him.

Funny enough, hope I'm not too late, I had 2 days exactly the same as you Monday & Tuesday. I am also 35 weeks pregnant. I felt so ill but I know it wasnt a bug. I have read that it is very common to poo loads at this stage. I had the most chronic wind too, even my 3 yr old son was complaining about the smell.

Felt so much better today but I also have the melon between the legs and walking is becoming difficult. On my first I felt a lot more mobile.

OH sounds like mine, crawls in stupid o'clock and I cant sleep as need to know he is home safely. Feels sorry for himself all next day but I have to carry on. Still get "whats for tea?" have to be on near death bed before I get caried for.

Even though I was a bit concerned that I was near labour I know my body and can guarantee that baby will around dead-on 40 weeks. I'd rather hold on for 5 weeks as havent done much to prepare and wouldnt say I'm overly excited either.
