just been to gp with ds who's 3.5, he has been diagnosed with slapped cheek syndrome. he's ok but gp was more concerned about me being 30 weeks pregnant, the maternity hospital are checking my bloods to see if I have past immunity to it and will let me know tomorrow if I need more done, I also know from googling it that it's mainly in early pregnancy you need to worry. just wondering if anyone else has experience of this and how things turned out. I have been ill myself and admitted to hospital 2 weeks ago with bad abdominal pain and diarrhoea which can apparently be a symptom so don't know if i picked it up then from my ds, hospital put it down to a virus then. any experiences would be gratefully received!

My friend's son had slapped cheek when I was 8 weeks pg and I had been spending alot of time with him. I had a blood test and found I was immune. The doctor told me that most adults are immune as they have been in contact with it when they were children.

Hope it all works out for you.

thanks sleepy, hopefully all should be well, they are checking my booking bloods that were done last october, (had no idea they kept them that long) to see if I was immune then and if so no problems, will just have to wait and see

I have just been through this and understood that after 20 weeks pregnancy it wasn't really anything to worry about. Also 60% of adults are immune anyway and even if you did get it it wouldn't necessarily affect the foetus. Try not to worry. This is quite a good link www.nhs.uk/chq/Pages/1112.aspx?CategoryID=54&SubCategoryID=137

yes must have, anything I found seemed to focus on 20 weeks and below, gp spoke with maternity hosp who are going to screen my previous bloods and if I dont have previous immunity then they will take more to see if I've caught it from my ds, was just wondering why they needed to make sure I hadn't caught it as I'm past the "danger period" and what they would do if it was the case I now have it iyswim, thank you for the link
