Am I likely be able to have a sweep today...??

I am 40 weeks tomorrow and am seeing the midwife today. I am ok with going overdue but my pelvis/hips/inner thighs are starting feel like they might drop off! I get very stiff whenever I sit down and am struggling to get up, plus have been virtually housebound for about a week as walking for any distance makes my lower back completely seize up. How likely am I to be offered a sweep today? Or is that something they only do once you're overdue?

TBH I think it depends from area to area. I know that some midwives are happy to attepmt sweeps from 37 weeks, whereas some (my area included) won't sweep till at least 41 weeks. Just mention it and see
Plus, the longer you wait, the more likely it is to work!

I was offered it at 40+4 last time, but baby wasn't engaged so I couldn't have it. Went into labour 2 days later anyway.

I think it's generally done when you're 40+, but the head being engaged is important as there's a risk of cord prolapse if your waters break.

baby has been engaged since 31 weeks.... I will ask my midwife. It says on my guidance notes that they will do a sweep at 41 weeks but TBH we haven't stuck exactly to those anyway so hopefully there's some leeway. My main concern is that I'll become less and less mobile and and up having to have more intervention at the end!
