Prob being paranoid here -is it safe to go to aqua aerobics this late? No show yet, earlier this week thought had leaking waters but convinced now it wasnt, havent been swimming for a while but have been doing pregnancy aerobics on dry land all the way through. Wd there be any risks that wd put you off doing it this late?

Hi there, I am an aqua instructor and I would not recommend you do a class now.

if you have not been doing aqua so far, then be very careful as your body works harder in the water, and there is a risk of you hurting yourself - remember you have more surface area now so will not be able to change direction as quickly as you can on land. Also if your waters hve been leaking, then definitely dont go in the pool as you may risk infection.

Otherwise if you are not leaking, by all means have a wallow in the pool, but no breaststroke legs, just gentle walking or floating. If you can get some of those flotation "noodles" put a couple under your arms and do gentle peddling motions.

good luck.xx

Sounds like good advice - I am 30 weeks and thinking of taking some days off work to go to an Aquanatal class - is it too late for me do you think? if not how late would be too late?

I went to aquanatal classes the day before my son was born, other women were there who were over-due. If your waters are intact then aquanatals classes are excellent (mine were run by a midwife!). But if your waters break while you are in the pool, the swimming pool owners will not be pleased, so you do have to be careful not to overdo it!

if you do regular aqua then its fine, but I would not suggest trying something new at this stage of pregnancy. If you do decide to go, please make sure you don't do any leg lifts accross the mid line (can-can), and no twisting - and no sudden changes of direction. In fact if you just paddle along thats probably best. Also check with your instructor that she is comfortable with you doing the class / check if she did the pregnancy module (I did, I also did aqua natal for pregnancy and aqua yoga. I once had a lady who started contractions during my aqua yoga class which was quite interesting!!!

Its your call. But might just be more fun to wallow around with some floats!
