I've been referred to a group physio session for hip and back pain, I wondered if anybody had experience of this and could let me know what is likely to go on there please?

thank you!

I had that - I was given an enormous tubi grip to go round my bump which was very useful. Can't really remember what else happened but whatever it was, it certainly helped.

Have you already had a one to one appt with a physio? I would expect to see someone individually about your specific problem before being sent on to a group class. Especially as you are pregnant. I presume you mean group exercise class? Could you check this with them? Are you in a lot of pain?

Hi musthave I've not seen a physio at all yet, the MW said they do a group session for pregnancy back and hip pain and then if you need it you get to see somebody afterwards.
I've managed to bring my appt forward to this friday, I am in quite a lot of discomfort and can't stand for longer than a few minutes, get the odd stabbing pain too.
the usual things help for a short bit of relief but hoping the physio will help longer term - not sure what happens at these sessions though and a bit curious.

I was told at my appointment that they couldn't do anything for me because I was pregnant . Ended up going to an osteopath who soon got the problem sorted.

Sounds like it might be a one off session with information on managing back pain. Could be helpful. But it also sounds like you need a one on one appt with somebody to address your individual problem. Unfortunately as magnummum says a lot of physio's seem to think theres no point in treating pregnant women with back pain. However there are lots of people on these forums who have had success with chiropractors and osteopaths whilst pregnant and there are some physio's who do treat pregnant women. Sadly, I think its unlikely you will be able to access the sort of treatment you need on the NHS...

Thanks ladies, I'll go along and see what happens. As it is specifically for pregnant women I would imagine they will be of some help but I think some 1 to 1 help would be good
