snoring problem!

I am 24 weeks pregnant and have a real snoring problem!

I don't normally snore (although did in my last pregancy) but my DH informs me that it is very loud and keeps him awake.

Bless him, he is being understanding and never wakes me up as he knows I need to sleep but I feel it is getting on his nerves and affecting his sleep.

What causes such bad snoring in pregnancy? I was slightly overweight when I fell pregnant but hardly obese (and actually quite fit). How can I help matters? I sometimes wake myself up and always have a sore throat in the morning!

From a vain point of view, I am worried it is making me less attractive to hubby!

Is it because you are sleeping on your back?

roseability · 16/02/2009 17:22

No, I can only sleep on my left side. It seems to be worse if I am really tired and just as I am falling off to sleep.

My DH snores all the time...Since living with him my sleep has been constantly disturbed...however I am 34 weeks and have the worst flu (that DH kindly gave to me) and he woke me up this morning to say that I disturbed him with my snoring! HILARIOUS! I have never snored in my life before...payback I say.
Anyway I would take comfort in the fact that it WONT last and is only a temp situation so if your DH is really suffering I'd suggest the couch for him. For you I recommend those nasal strips...as you are not a chronic snorer they should just help with opening your airways.... Good luck x

can you try some of those strips you put over your nose (think they're called breathease?). they're quite expensive. think they work to open your nasal passage slightly.

roseability · 17/02/2009 13:38

I will definately try those strips, thanks for the idea.

Yes I was normally the silent sleeper, hardly stirred. Whilst my DH sleep talked/walked and snored away!

Don't get me wrong he isn't complaining about it really, I just feel a bit (but not too much!) sorry for him as I have woken myself up and believe me it is very. very loud snoring! Surprised I don't wake DS up in the next room!

I am 24 weeks so look forward to being a non-snorer again (and of course a beautiful new baby). I think after DS I still snored for a few weeks and then it settled down.
