I'm pg with my 3rd having had hyperemesis/severe morning sickness with my first two and am exploring all my options for keeping the sickness under control, should it arise.
Now, obviously at a certain level, medication is the only thing that is going to work, but much of the time it's likely to be at a much lower level. Obviously it is a physical thing but there is also a strong psychological element - as evinced by the fact that at certain times, even the thought of food can make you sick (I remember throwing up on watching an orange juice advert). Hence it seems that hypnotherapy might have a role to play in controlling the psychological side of it.
I used a great hypnotherapy download for driving test nerves and the way it worked was that you basically 'write a script' for a good driving test. What I liked about the one I used was that it didn't make any unrealistic claims about the power of hypnotherapy - it was just about not blocking yourself off from doing something you were capable of. So what I want to know, before I spend £££ on a product or find a hynotherapist, is how it 'works' with morning sickness - what do they ask you to do? Is it all about trying to relax (because what would be the relevance of that?) or about imagining you are in a place where you don't feel sick, or.....? I'm asking because I don't really understand how it works in this context.
Would be v grateful for any insights from anyone who has used it.
