Just interested to do a little poll on this. I am sure the two must be related, non?

Very very seasick every time I go near a boat. Extremely sick during both pregnancies - right up to about 22 weeks.

MrsFogi · 11/02/2009 12:24

No I didn't have morning sickness with dd1 an only had 3 mornings of sickness with dd2. However sea sickness ...........I even get sick on the Docklands Light Railway.

MrsFogi · 11/02/2009 12:24

and I can't even stand on a moored boat without feeling nauseous.

idobelieveinfairies · 11/02/2009 12:26

I didn't have morning sickness at all not even with twins...but suffer badly with any motion sickness..boat/car/plane..and coach is the worst!

orangina · 11/02/2009 12:26

I can get quite sea sick (but not always) and didn't really get morning sickness with either pregnancy (some evening nausea with pg2...). But, when pg, my sensitivity to motion sickness became MUCH worse. Could barely get into a car without wanting to barf.

Odd really....

campion · 11/02/2009 12:26

Seasickness ( and severe travel sickness as a child) - yes.
Morning sickness - never even a hint.
Though I did have boys and , I gather, morning sickness is more common when carrying a girl.

dilbertina · 11/02/2009 12:27

I get sea sick, car sick etc...but felt only slightly sick early on in all 3 pregnancies, was not actually sick at all.

Don't think they are related at all - sea sickness is motion sickness, morning sickness is hormone related. Why would they be related?

AccidentalMum · 11/02/2009 12:27

Travel sickness (plane, train, automobile as well) and quite bad morning sickness here.

thaliablogs · 11/02/2009 12:30

I get horribly travel sick, never had morning sickness. Not sure they are related? Travel sickness is about inner ear sensitivity, morning sickness is hormones changing stomach emptying, acid production etc?

NotQuiteCockney · 11/02/2009 12:30

I get nauseated on very rocky boats, only throw up in extreme circumstances (bad hovercraft or something, icelandic whale watching boat, I'm told everyone other than DH and some of the crew puked). I was nauseated a lot in both pregnancies, but never puked.

That being said, between the boat puking, and the pregnancies, I had a v v alarming vomiting episode, which changed me from 'vomiting is a good thing to do if I'm queasy' to 'I do not vomit, if it can be avoided at all'.

sifuentes · 11/02/2009 12:34

ah so there is hope for me!

totally relate to mrsfogi i once felt very sick lying on a pedalo.

dilbert I thought that a) if you are a sicky person you would be more likely to get MS maybe- silly i know

and b) also because they do recommend seabands for pregnancy. Mind you they did feck all for me last time!

Interesting thought - I get seasick just looking at a boat, but had no ms with either of my pg's.

ksld · 11/02/2009 12:38

No travel sickness at all ever - even when small when 45 other passengers including my family were puking apparently I was chatting to the boat captain about the big waves.

However I suffered with Hyperemesis throughout both pregnancies - vomited at least once every day and constantly nauseous. Seabands totally useless here too.

Can't see that either are related - at least not in my case.

2pt4kids · 11/02/2009 12:39

horribly sea sick but no ms (small amount of nausea but no sickness) either time

peachygirl · 11/02/2009 12:40

I get quite travel sick on coaches a but had no Morning sickness just nausea.

it's true that they are not the same thing medically.

I dunno I just thought that perhaps it made you more of a vom magnet. I was clearly very wrong!

crokky · 11/02/2009 12:53

Not what you asked but I'm not sure the 2 things correlate.

I have never been travel sick on any type of transport. Have been on rough boat where loads of people vomming, not me though. However, for me, 2 pregnancies = 500 vomits. Terrible!
