Hiya,

I have been in alot of pain since Friday, my whole back hips pevis bum and fanjo ache and feel really heavy, I started having contraction type pains at 4am that lasted til 10am which seems to have made it 100x worse, Midwife wanted me up the hospital (Im 25+3) straight away was monitored and everything is fine with baby but they have told me I have PGP (pelvic girdle pain) apparently its in its mildest stages(?) but will get worse and I have been referred to physio.

I am scared and feeling very sorry for myself, I dont know what I should be expecting, will it really get worse? Paracetemol isnt even hitting it at the mo

If anyone has any advice Id really appreciate it

My feelings go out to you. I had SPD (symphysis pubis dysfunction) which is part your symptoms. This gives tender pubic bone at the front sore hips and buttocks. Painful to climb stairs, in/out the car, turning in bed, walking quickly etc. Physio is really the only thing to help and they can give lifestyle advice and sometimes a support belt can help. It can ease up but I had all the way through (signed off sick with it at 28 weeks).
Let us know how it goes.

thanks for your message teasleepfood the problems you describe are exactly what I've got at the mo, but also I seem to have developed the ability to almost "pop" out my left hip, if I move it too much it clunks and sticks out and when I move that leg (open and close lol) it clunks and makes a really odd noise.
Im kinda hoping that with being referred straight away may stop it developing further.
What did you do to help yourself? Is there anything I should/shouldn't be doing?
I've been told not to lift my DD anymore, dont think she's going to take to kindly to that!

ive got some mild form of this i think, i had it really bad in last pg, am 22wks and my pubic bone at the front hurts, if i try and turn over in bed it really hurts from opening my legs up (sounds kinky!) and i have to walk dd to school pushing buggy which also makes it ache a great deal, also makes my tummy kinda ache to. im crossing my fingers that it doesnt get as bad as last time!

Get yourself a back support, I ordered mine from ebay but it's made such a difference. Also aqua natal classes can help, get referred for physio if poss and co-codomol. I am now 33 weeks and it has meant I can carry on working pretty much as normal. Also be careful when getting in/out of car - knees together

TeaSleepFood · 10/02/2009 09:54

glad to be of help, basically keep your knees together - that's what got us into this mess in the first place!

Have been having a nosey at this as I am 26weeks pregnat and have been having very similar symptons. Pains alround my pelvis and top of my legs, stairs knacker me out completly. But I seem to get the worst pain after I have been sat down for a while or when I'm in bed. A very achey kind of painful pain lol

Hope it improves for you let me know how you get on.

walk like your wearing a mini skirt & no knickers

that was my physio's advice!

As someone has already said be verry careful when getting in and out of the car.

When getting in, bottom in and sit down first (with bothe legs still outside). Then swing both legs and knees together in together. Sit on a plastic bag to help your bottom slide if that helps.

When getting out of the car, swing both legs out first, keeping knees together, and then stand up.

Stop opening and closing legs to get them to pop!

WRT moving aound, you need to find the happy medium between keeping everything free and un-siezed and not doing too much.

Once I stopped walking so much, it made a great difference.

Physio's can help, with verry sexy support belts/tubi grip and crutches if really bad. They will also give advice on what to do in labour if necessary- in terms of good positions to adopt.

I used to get my ds to stand on his little chair if he wanted to be lifted up or to have a cuddle if I didn't want to sit down first.

Good luck, hope it gets no worse.
