Hello

I am on my second pregnancy - coming rather rapidly after baby no 1 (who will be 15 months when baby 2 is born in May). I have to confess to giving this pregnancy little attention as I am so busy - but I am starting to have a nagging worry as quite a few people have said to me "you look very small" or "you don't look due in May" - I know that how big the bump is has nothing to do with size of baby and at 20 weeks they told me that all measurements, including amniotic fluid were normal (they also told me they saw 2 soft markers but that is another matter). I have been sitting down or in baggy clothes when people have said this - and this is women with young children - do they not remember how annoying it is to have people say things like that?

I have put on very little weight but in tight clothes I think the bump is a sensible size.

Well if you are happy, and midwife/ doctors are happy with your size, no-one else's opinion matters!

Agree it is terribly annoying though, everyone seems to have an opinion on your bump, it's always too big or too small! I have the opposite problem, was looking HUGE from about 17/18 weeks. And some of the comments really upset me, well meant though they were. All women/ babies/ pregnancies are different and just take anything said with a pinch of salt and gloat in the fact you won't have as much weight to loose post birth!

i have the same sort of problem but the other way round.

Im 35 weeks pregnant and my fundal height is 35cms which is completely normal but never hear the end of. ull never get to 40 weeks with that baby.. your babys going to be huge.. and omg rnt u massive..

i wish some people would just mind there business and it can be quite upsetting im not overweight as i was a size 10 before i got pregnant and havent gained any body weight my bump just looks big in comparison to the size of me as im only 5ft 1.

i just laff it off but when its people you dont even know you do kinda feel like telling them where to go.

when i was about 23 weeks pregnant people felt the need to comment on how small i was for my size.

your bump hasnt got much to do with the size of your bay i have a friend who had hardly any bump all the way through and managed to give birth to a healthy 8lb baby xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I really wouldn't worry about it - it depends on your size and build. I was 28cm at 28 weeks but people were telling me I looked small - that'll be because I'm 5'10!!! It's all just an optical illusion. At 20 weeks I just looked a bit fat to be honest (was 10-12 b4 pg).

May is a while away yet!

I had opposite, with DS2 (born in March) I had staff in the restaurant saying "must be any day now", when I said no 3mths away they asked if I was having twins.
I was huuuge tho!

I think I have quite a balanced view of this because we've had loads of pgs at work. One girl was just huge (and baby was not excessively large btw), another has a beachball bump and has since 16 weeks (I was amazed she was only 4 weeks ahead of me), another seemed to have a flat stomach until 17 weeks, one had a smaller round bump that suddenley popped, me and another girl looked initially fat and not really pg until we were about 25 weeks. Everyone's different!
