vainest question ever... can I use a hairdryer in hospital?!

In my defense I have very messy wavy hair that just looks a mess if I leave it to dry naturally, and unless I have a c-section or something, I imagine I'll want to have a shower, do my hair etc or won't feel human!

I know there's a good chance I won't be able to, but thought I'd ask if anyone had got away with it?! I believe most hospitals have issues with you using any elecrical plug in equipment, but wondered how much they really enforce it?

Failing that, do you know if cordless (battery operated or chargable) hairdryers exist? I can't find them anywhere!

TIA

We let women use hairdryers although unless they are in for several days they don't usually bother. I suppose the issue is that they haven't been tested for electrical safety but everyone charges their phone up too so ...

You can if its checked by hospital spark first. Be warned that can take ages. Mind you, you may not have the energy for that after giving birth Rollers perhaps?

I did.

Thanks everyone

I reckon if I'm 'in and out' that day I won't bother, but if I'm getting visitors or I'm in more than overnight, I'll want it!

Had visions of hiding in a linin cupboard drying it in secret!

Dropdeadfred · 05/02/2009 12:19

Cor, the last thing on mymind was the state of my hair!

Dropdeadfred · 05/02/2009 12:28

hahaha..i was so vain, my hair and makeup were immaculate every time anyone visited...my mum couldn't believe it!

wotulookinat · 05/02/2009 12:29

God, I am really envious now I just looked like a manky, tired monster! I shall promise to make more effort next time!

Dropdeadfred · 05/02/2009 12:33

yes but that was only after dd1, after dd2 and dd3 it was different!

myhandslooksoold · 05/02/2009 12:34

For my first baby I didn't bother and boy do I regret it now as those photos are so precious and I just think "God I look wrecked" every time I see them. (After of course drooling over the baby!)
For the second baby I brushed my hair and put on make up but forgot to hide my HUGE belly by holding the baby in front of it!! So I look lovely but think "God my stomach is massive"
So my advice- brush hair, mascara and foundation and hide your belly by holding the baby in front of you- oh and look serene and composed (!) for each photo!

wotulookinat · 05/02/2009 12:34

I'll do it the other way around then.

Dropdeadfred · 05/02/2009 12:36

with dd2 i had to have a blood transfusion so didn't care much about appearance, with dd2 i was home the same day!!

Dropdeadfred · 05/02/2009 12:36

wideratthehips · 05/02/2009 14:31

paolosgirl · 05/02/2009 14:34

Couldn't in my hospital - they have these plugs that are fused, so no-where to plug anything in.
