Just wondered as my sil has an old scar in the same place where a caesarean scar would be that is stretching with the growth of her baby.

Is there anything you've found works for a sore scar that she could try to make hers more comfortable?

Thank-you for any suggestions, they'll all be tried to see if anything helps

Hello- Yes me!

There's not much you can do other than apply vitamin E cream to help the skin recover - it will btw stretch but it'll be less itchy if you apply cream!

The good news is that you have about 17 layers of skin and fat between the uterus and the scar so even if a bit goes (and mine did) it's rarely a big problem.

is vitamin e cream expensive wmmc? She's on a tight budget at the mo as they've just moved in next door to us.

If it is, do you think maybe baby oil gel or a rich moisturiser would help as I have loads of moisturisers

Hi

I have about a 5 inch scar across my stomach next to my belly button from an operation I had a few years ago, and I was really worried what would happen to it as my stomach stretched. The scar has adhesions when it was stitched up at either end, and these used to pull a lot, but strangely it hasn't been a problem up to now, which I was suprised about. I have been putting bio oil on my stomach everyday to try and help it, and also putting cocoa butter oil on each time I have been in the shower/ bath. That was only about £5. The hio oil is about £12, but it does last, I have only used a little bit out of the top and I have been using it for about 10 weeks now.

I dont know about a caesarean scar tho, because that would be in a slightly different place. And I am only 21 weeks, so it call all change very soon. I'd be interested to hear from anyone in a similar situation. Whenever I have mentioned it to the midwife she doesnt seem to think it would be a problem at all.

BIG knickers, not very glam, but I find normal, under the bump ones put a lot of pressure on the scar and make it tender

No it costs about £2 for a bottle which will last you for ages! Supermarkets sell it! Or chemists.

cheers wmmc, if the cocoa butter oil doesn't do the trick I'll send her to the chemist for some after the weekend.

curlywurly, I've just done all 6 loads of their washing & she seems to posess nothing but thongs so will have a word about big pants being better & see if I can convince her to splash out on some
